Miriam C. wrote:Steve, guys you can get pvc shower pan liner that goes together with pvc cement. Doesn't cost too much and the weight isn't bad either. You can also cut it down to fit.

where? details please :)

You can check at the big box stores. The one I saw was at Sutherlands in Joplin MO. Came in a kit but you can buy it off the roll too.

Hijack over.

splitting off to new thread :)

I figure I can work on the settee tomorrow while I'm waiting for my second coat of epoxy to dry on the exterior.

I need to purchase some more tile and fabric. Plenty of projects.

JCW doesn't say, I'm assuming that you just lift up to disassemble this to convert from table to bed? JCW says " Slip apart without tools"

Exactly. It has a tapered end so the weight of the table presses the leg into the base(s). Just pull up (firmly) and the leg will pull apart from the base.

I don't like the screws as they rust, and I'll replace that hinge with stainless or aluminum in the near future. The silver material is aluminum angle also from Home Depot.

Hi Steve,

I'm not quite getting what it is that you did to the door edge. Looks pretty cool so I'd like to know. Close up photo perhaps? It's aluminum angle, and is there weather stripping involved?

I'm going to pull the camper out tomorrow and work on a few things, and I'll try to get some better pictures of the door. I used aluminum angle along all the sides, except the one with the piano hinge. Behind the piano hinge I installed a bicycle tire inner tube, and trimmed it with a razor after I mounted it.

The aluminum angle has weatherstripping on the inside of it where it presses against the wall of the trailer.

BTW, I looked at your pictures, and your TTT is looking great. I looks like you got your settee going - did you get that leg from JCWhitney too? I also like the window in the back.

No problem. I hope these will give an idea of what I did with the angle:

Image
I installed the angle all around the door edge. I didn't mount the outside edge flush, instead I mounted it about 1/8" away from the door, so there is a small lip on the outside of the door. I sealed it with caulking. The reason I didn't mount it flush to the door was to give a little room for the weatherstripping.

Image
This shows the inside of the door. A small piece of weatherstripping is on the backside of the angle where it presses againt the side walls of the camper.

Cool Steve! Thanks for posting that. I didn't ask for the info, but was about to, as I'll be needing it soon. Seems like in the past you mentioned a "double seal" on the door. Is there something else you're sealing with also?

Yes, the door has two seals. There is one seal (weatherstripping) on the inside of the aluminum angle (shown in the post above) which seals to the outside walls of the camper.

The second seal is an interior jamb, and it has weatherstripping on it also.

Image
Above is an old picture of the camper that shows the interior door jamb inside the door opening.

Image
Here's a newer picture, but it's more difficult to see the interior jamb as it's painted black now and has a screen door.

Not a very good one:

Image
There are 4 small hinges that mount to the interior door jamb. The screen door fits inside the door jamb. The mesh is wider/taller than the frame so that it seals the door when closed.

Wow! I just spent three days reading (most) of this thread! The Puffin is the type of trailer that intrigues me! I do have a couple questions. 1) Did you insulate the walls, floor and roof? 2) I see your site is up, but no content, what is your estimate for the plans and info that you indicated that you might be posting on the site?

Thanks for some great reading!
