Lynn, sorry to hear you will be down for 6 weeks. Just think of it as a time to get the book done, or what ever you need to do for now. The portable laptop desk is a real help. Just send out for what you need and sit back and play queen for a few weeks. We will be thinking of you and praying that the healing is quick and the pain is minimal.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers, I appreciate them. Today was not a good day in the recovery process. My left knee is sore and straining to lift me up. I stayed down as often as possible but I also felt quite out of it. I'm only taking a pain pill at night when I go to bed but it might be too much for my system. I can't take asprin for a couple weeks after the surgery, so I'm cutting down to the pain pill the doc perscribed before the surgery. Hopefully that will make me feel a lot better during the day.

Anyways, thanks again.

:( I am so sorry you are in such pain. You know the body heals faster when not in pain so take your pills when you can. I get too out of it so I really avoid them but they do help the body recover.

Now get better and write lots. 8)

Blessings

Have a speedy recovery and don't forget you are TTT time!

Barb

ps..........after three knee surgeries I was lucky that only one kept me sidelined for 6 weeks. Best advice is that if you have swelling in the knee then make sure you get a chance to lie down with your foot/knee up higher than your heart. A couch works great for this!

Hi all,

Well, I've completed the first week of recovery and I am trying to figure out how I'll complete five more without using my right leg. As the days progress and the healthier I start feeling the more I want to use my leg.

However, the very thought of having to redo this process because I messed up, is keeping nailed to the chair. :R

I went out last night. Paul built a ramp in order to get me in and out of the house in the wheelchair. Monday I see the doctor and see what he has to say about my knee. It looks good from my angle.

So, an outpatient procedure went a little ca-ca for me in the spring of 2003 (I ended up spending 4 days and 3 nights in the hospital, and recovery lasted an extra three weeks; the surgeon also missed a couple of staples, and you haven't lived until you've had staples about 4'' below your belly button removed at home with a leatherman ... ). The laptop acquired a fan-cooler similar to this:

and I got really good at lifting/lowering me onto a couch/recliner with a "walking stick" made of 1'' schedule 40 PVC with a plug in one end and a T-fitting at the other...
Mopar's what my busted knuckles bleed, working on my 318s...

Well, i have some good news.

The stitches are out and I'm allowed to put my foot down to balance myself, no weight on there but at least I can balance.

The flipside of this, is I now have to relearn how to walk with the crutches again. Not that I learned how to do it all that well before...but at least I can use my right leg with the crutches now and then bring the left leg forward.

What this means is I'm a bit more mobile in the house. I can go into my office, where I am right now. My wheelchair is at the door but I can make it through the room and to my desk. YEA!!!!

Okay maybe that's not all that impressive but for me, this is major.

Also, I no longer have to take those dreadful pain pills. I can go with ibupropen. I hope that's how you spell that. This is also a good thing for me, I can now do some serious editing once my mind is completely clear of the pain meds. I'm hoping by tomorrow, since completely stopped taking them on Sat. night.

Okay, now you probably know far more than you wanted to about my knee troubles.

Thanks for the prayers and the well wishes they are greatly appreciated.
