Florida plates. Hmmmm. There aren't any Jews in Florida, are there? :D

Was there a Texas A&M decal in the back window? ;)

I make fun of every group--including my own--because these are called "jokes."

And as long as they're presented and intended as such, there's no harm.

I have a question for you--I said that Israelis and Lebanese are bad drivers. But on what level could this comment ever remotely be considered true?

Now, we all know that there's a running sterotype that Asians are bad drivers. So if I substituted Asians for the above ethnicities, you MIGHT have a case that it was somehow racist. But still, I would argue the fact because this a JOKE.

But Lebanese and Israelis?

My comment didn't even make any SENSE in the first place, yet you take offense. Who ever heard that Lebanese and Israelis are bad drivers?

And on a related note:

As a Jew, I support Israel--so they can bomb the hell out of Lebanon whenever they start trouble. But I categorized both Lebanese and Israelis as equally bad drivers, which in turn will promote peace between the two nations and avert war. I refuse to place one group above the other as better drivers.

I shouldn't be getting criticism for this--I should be getting the damn Noble Peace Prize.

And if you don't see the humor in the above few paragraphs, there's NOTHING I could write that will help you lighten up over this stuff.

I don't mean to offend, and I'm sorry you WERE offended, but do you want to rethink this one maybe?

I was thinking the same thing--but I said ISRAELIS.

And actually, all male Jews have a license to make fun of Israelis:

It's in the Jew contract when you get Bar Mitzvahed.

Making jokes is a Jewish gift. Look at all the famous comedians that are Jews. I think a pronounced sense of humor was given to Jews to make up for their lack of athletic ability.

I'm Italian. We have a talent for eating, drinking and driving fast. It makes up for the fact that everything we make breaks a lot. I bought my TD shell because I wanted a TD I could actually use to go camping in. ;)

It was also the only way to survive in the old country, but here's a funny Jew athlete story. (And there aren't a lot of them because as you accurately stated, there aren't a lot of Jewish athletes to tell stories about.)

The Mets had a second baseman (I think he played 2nd, maybe a utility player) named Art Shamsky...a Jew. And while he was with The Mets and me and Dad were watching a game on TV, in between me aggravating him to no end by saying that The Mets suck and that I like the Yankees better, Dad would say:

"Look, Ira! Art Shamsky is up at bat! He's Jewish, you know?"

And I would say:

"I know--you've told me this for 5 years, and I keep telling you, who cares? He totally stinks."

So then one day, we actually go to one of just 3 live sporting events that my Dad ever took me to in my entire life--a Mets game. This is why I basically hate sports. The memories simply weren't too warm from these experiences.

We go to a game on Yom Kipppur, the highest of all Yid holidays. Shamsky is playing, and my dad complains to me, "Look at that son of a bitch! Why is he playing on Yom Kippur!?"

And I say:

"Dad--what are WE doing here on Yom Kippur!?"

True story...he never understood the irony of the situation...and if he was alive today, he would STILL hate me for being a Yankees fan.

I hate you for being a Yankees fan too..

I'm from Detroit...

I got your joke Ira, it seem these days some people just look for a reason to become indignant. I'm half Polish and half Italian. Now if there isn't a joke there, I just don't know. ;)

Sorry, Ira, but on a public forum they are out of line and not funny

No Don--they're just not funny to YOU. But that doesn't mean the rest of us have to restrain our speech and suffer because of it.

And Jeepr, I have no problem being hated for being a Yankees fan!

Hell, I'm totally used to THAT. And that's usually for good reason!

...while self-depreciating humor is OK, in this day and age, you havvta be VERY careful of ethinc humor in any public place...if ya havvta crack an ethnic joke, don't be suprised if someone gets upset about it...WE have all cracked, AND laughed at Polish, Blond, Jewish, Protestan, Catholic, RedNeck, Yuppie, Aggie, Female, Male(and about any other group) jokes...they are funny to someone, however for everyone that finds them funny, some will not...so if you post one don't be suprised by negative reaction and on the other hand, wearing your feelings on your sleeve is no way to live either...take it as the joke it was meant to be and deal with it...it's not worth fighting over...and we all know the world could use a little more humor and less fighting.....

I'm new here and that's a good picture for everyone to look at but.....personally I don't see a need for comments that have absoutely, positively nothing to do with TEARDROP TRAILERS!!!Acording to the rules for this forum some comments should not be made here. What some people call a joke some others would consider inappropriate.do the walls have to be built up or can they just be 3/4 ply?
