Here is a story I have lifted from a trailer forum I am on. I assume it is all true. Happy Halloween

Hello, fellow vintage trailer fans. Halloween is coming, and I think Im going to take a break from the informative vintage trailer postings and tell a true story that happened to me with my last vintage trailer. As the majority of you may know, I am 16 years old. Perhaps you have seen this trailer for sale on TCT. Actually, I sold it to a family who chose to leave it at our campgrounds. After camping in it with my family and friends for nearly two years, we have really worked up and put together a pretty complete story to verify that there was always somebody else in that trailer with us...someone we just couldnt see.

The trailer here is a 1957 Continental park model trailer, 35 feet in length. I bought the trailer in April of 05 from a man who had it sitting in a field adjacent to his home, partially remodeled (but still with its original birch walls and cabinetry in tact). I would say it had been owned by a carpenter or fine woodworker, because alot of components (screen door, countertops, windowsills) appeared to be home made but professionally done so. I basically bought it for the same reason I would any other trailer, just to save. I decided to use it at our campgrounds as a hangout for us kids. It had new countertops and carpet, but like I said, it wasnt totally finished off. A few nights at our house for cleaning, and it was off to the campsite. It would be another two months of repairs before summer kicked in, and we (me, my brothers, and a friend named Alex) moved in for the summer. At first, things were just like any other camper. Its large size always accomodated extra friends, and its nice birch interior with modern touches always made it a nice place to stay. It would be about another few weeks of staying in this trailer before things would start to make us wonder...

I was never supersticios. I did believe in the afterlife, but never on a large scale. Sure weve all had wierd things happen to us over our lives, but at my age, not much to convince me...yet. It was a pretty quiet night, during the week when the campgrounds was pretty empty. I went into the back bedroom to sleep. My brothers and Alex all slept in the front room of the trailer (livingroom). They must have fallen asleep before me, and I just couldnt join them. I started to doze off, but would be waken up by strange lights outside of the windows. Too bright for fireflys, I thought. It seemed as if every time one would shine in a window, id look, and the window behind me would light up. I tried convincing myself that it was fireflys and tried to fall asleep. What happened next got me out of that trailer pretty quick. I heard what I thought was my brothers whispering outside my door. I said "what" and nobody answered. Then I heard it getting louder. It sounded like two men talking to each other, arguing possibly. I could make out "you did it" and "you made me". That was all I needed to hear before leaving the trailer, taking a walk to clear my mind, and going back to sleep in the livingroom with everyone else.

Another few nights would go by, and I tried my best to forget about things. The trailer just kept giving me an uneasy feeling. I honestly was not (and still am not) scared of anything out there, but something just gave off a negative energy. Simple things made me cringe. Looking into the back room, opening cabinets, etc. Life went on like that for a while, and aside from wierd creaks and shaking of the trailer on a pretty regular basis, nothing startled anyone...

Fastforward a year. Its summer of 06. The trailer has been moved to another campsite. Perfectly leveled on cement blocks. Guests stay with me now more than ever. Averaging 3-5 per night on weekends, not including my brothers and Alex. This was when the stories started pouring into me. I would hear it all the next day around the fire "so who was walking around last night?" or "were you rocking the trailer trying to scare us?" Id hear it almost every day. Then one deserted wednesday night, my youngest brother and I had the place to ourselves. I woke in the middle of the night to my floor outside the bedroom door (pocket door) creaking. I yelled out "Warren is that you?" only to get no answer. I opened the door only to see warren alseep on the front couch. "Were you just walking around?" I asked. He complained that I had just woke him, and told me to leave him alone. I went back to lay down. Another 10 minutes, the floor is creaking again. Same deal. Opened the door to find him asleep on the couch. What happened next still gives me chills. I finally dozed off, just to wake to hear the sound of footsteps popping on the aluminum roof. I listened for about 5 minutes. I lay back down to try to ignore it. Next thing I know, all three bedroom windows light up like its daylight outside, and its out in about a second. Brighter than any car light I have ever seen. I could see every nook and cranny in the room which was pitch black a mere half a second earlier. I ran out of the room and woke Warren, who told me he saw the same thing. He said "a big flash came from the back of the trailer to the front." A night of investigating around the campsite and empty campgrounds would turn up nothing.

The strangeness presses on. My friend Jeff tells me one morning that someone was standing over his bed in the middle of the night. He thought they whispered his name. He later expressed his discomfort staying in the trailer. I wake many nights to hear strange whispers and other noises. I awake from strange dreams which I had never experienced anything like. Dreams of creatures coming after me in the camper. Dreams of just sitting in the bedroom with such a terrified feeling that something was coming.

Its spring of 07, and I decide for financial reasons to sell my trailer and move into another. I first listed it for sale on TCT, but with no luck, ended up selling it to a family on the popular craigslist website. They move in, and all is normal for them...for a few weeks or so.

Sitting around the fire, they tell me stories, which related to my experiences in the trailer. I had never told them any of my stories, but decided to share a few with them. They told me a story where he (We'll call him "Jim") woke from a strange dream where small creatures were crawling on him, to someone standing over his bed clearly calling his name. He woke his wife and told her. Combined with my stories, they were pretty curious. Their eldest son then did something I always wanted to do...he bought a ouija board.

I was not there for their seance', but was told that the ouija board did make contact with a man named "Chris B" who said "I live in the trailer, sleep in the back room, and wont be leaving." He also supposedly talked of how he was a kind spirit, who indeed died in the trailer (remember, these things were commonly used as homes back then). The next day, the family dog (which always surprised me with how calm she was) went nuts, and started tearing at the screen door (which had been replaced by the previous owners). She didnt seem to have escape attentions, but simply to tear a piece of wood trim off of the bottom of the door. I was shown this by the owners of the camper. On the back side, in pencil, are the initials "CB"

There were a couple short ones I add in a separate notes.

I am glad to see there is young person at 16 years of age interested in older things. Most people are spoiled and just want new things then trouw them away when they get bored. I an not saying yay or nay about hauntings. But here is my experence with my Aristocrat. It was owned by a elderly couple who lived there in it until they died. I have not seen stuff but we have smelled a perfume or flowery smell in it we can't explain. Like a older ladies perfume. My wife and child was in it once and the bathroom door opened then shut itself. It has a door know like a storm door. You have to turn the door hande to get it open. They saw it turn. We have a house we built about 10 years ago. But we have odd stuff to happen. We have a lot of old antiques raging from victorian furniture to jukeboxes of the 30s and 40s. We have odd stuff happen in the house all the time. From hearing "people talking" and not being able to make it out. One time this boy who was dating my daughter asked who was that lady that went across the hall. He described her wearing a victorian dress. He sw a charcoal drawing later and said it was the lady he saw. It was a drawing of my wifes relataive drawn in the 1880s. So stange stuff happens. I wonder what kinds of things will happen in my scotty when I get it done.

Thank you and everyone for your kind words. My trailering interest pretty much started as an interest in just camping, combined with my interest in old cars and such. Vintage trailers just seemed to combine the two for me, and ive been buying, selling, using, and fixing ever since. Keeps me outta working at the burger joints I guess...hahaha.

I actually also had a 65 Fan trailer that gave me trouble as well. About 8 of us were awakened in the middle of the night when the trailer started to shake and rock like it was an earthquake. It was so violent that the cabinet doors fell open and things began falling off of the shelves. First thought would have been friends playing a trick, but a search outside turned up a deserted campsite. Terrified us for a while. Ive also had the stereo turn on twice for no reason.

I had a 50 vagabond trailer where the elderly owner actually died in it. I did get the smell of perfume, and the occasional feeling of someone behind me. Its currently being restored at Trailerworks.

The only wierd experience ive ever had since I sold that trailer would be my cat staring at the ceiling of my current trailer (60 something globestar) and hissing at clearly nothing....that I could see.

Makes on wonder if that is what happened to Leon and his spinning satellite dish. :o :o

:o O.K., now I'm not saying this scared me, but I'm really glad our trailer was built from the ground up and not pre-owned. I don't need any ghosts or goblins staying with me. I'm not the sharing type. :D

Don't worry, they don't eat much.

I wonder, how many people here have had such experiences? I know I have (not in campers though - a couple of houses).

Seems to be the right time of year for telling these stories.....so, who's next?
