Dumb Question do these sites have Electric hook-ups?

Not so dumb. The sites do not have electrical hook ups.

Some advantages:

The coffee was better in the perculator.
No chance to watch any TV.
Lanterns and LED lights are cooler than electric.
No extension cords to trip over.
I used an oil lamp for local lighting.

I took my Honda generator to charge up my 12 V battery for the DVD player.

I thought I would miss it more than I did, but it took a little adjustment.
I guess it's better to know before you arrive.

The good news is that the restrooms and showers are very nice and make up for the lack of electricity at the sites.
BTW, they do have electric lights in the shower house and restrooms. so it's not too bad.

Hmm Well dont really know that I need it anyway Havent really used it for anything but radio. We do all the cooking by fire.

Dennis & Darla has signed up to be at Fish Creek Pond on the 12th of June to the 15th. We will be on the same site as last year, #240.
Looking forward to this event and it looks good for us having our own canoe even though renting the ones there was not a bad deal.

Wow! the TearUp is off to a good start with 8 sites reserved so far.

Seems we all are resisting change and sticking to our tryed and true campsites from last year... except for Kurt who is now positioned well to spy on Steve and his award winning waffle making in the morning

Going to wait tell its closer but do not think we will be able to make it. Got the atlas out and its just to far for a weekend for us. To many week long trips already planned and booked. Its probably 13 hours at least with stops and thats 2 days of getting there and back.

But as it gets closer we will see.

Your time estimates are pretty close - depending on stops, route, etc. We have been driving to the Adirondacks for 15 years. Never gone for a weekend - agree it is too far. Usually stayed one, two, or three weeks. Now in retirement we are doing longer trips.

The big attraction for us was/is paddling. Probably the best flatwater around: large and small lakes and ponds with connecting streams or short "carries". One can paddle in an apparent wilderness, yet never be more than 20 mi or less from nice places to eat, shop, etc. We used to canoe camp in the backcountry, but since the teardrop we stay at fixed campsites and make day paddles. We recently have started to do some hiking also. Because it is several hours across the Adirondacks, the time varies with destination. Unfortunately, Fish Creek is north and about the furthest for us Ohioans. It is the prettiest campground, but all of them have some plus. We have camped in about 2/3 of them so far and are working on trying them all.

We usually take two days. One version was to leave Toledo after work at 5, camp at Geneva State Park east of Cleveland - missing rush hour, and driving the remaining 10 hours or so the next day. OR drive about 6 or 7 hours to the finger lakes (Keuka Lake SP), then finish the next day.

BTW, we will probably be at Alum Creek this coming weekend. Got the heater out as we couldn't use it in the Adirondacks this fall - but really didn't need to with the great weather.

Ken and Pat here. We just booked site #237 for arriving on the 12th and departing on the 16th. Will be bringing our homemade Benroy and maybe our bikes. Now if Boomer would jump on the Reserve america and get #236 that would be great. Cannt wait to see everyone again.

I don't think it was haunted but the noises in the night woke me up sometimes.
I didn't mind the noises but the foot steps and the splashing in the water was a little freaky.

The candles would stay lit after midnight and in the morning they had all been re-arranged.

Of course, you know, I'm kidding but, hey, it's Halloween....

I found out shortly after we got back home that the newly weds are expecting. (must have happened on the wedding night.)
In March, we'll be grand parents. I'd bring my grandson but he'll only be 3 months old by then.

If my Honda 50 is ready, I'll bring it along. Any restrictions in the park against little "camp cruisers"?

The pie irons are coming along also. We could have a "Fire Pie" cookout one night.

I'm sure something else will come up so we'll have to wait and see.
