Scott & Gerri,

I wish you health and happiness.

I also wish you would at least swing by on your honeymoon, so we can at least razz you and give you a hard time!

Best wishes,
Steve

If that ah-oo-ga horn makes an appearance, we may get a chance to see if it works under water!

Group Reservations

Postby SteveH » Thu Nov 01, 2007 1:56 pm

I called Inks Lake State Park today and talked to them about camping together as a group, and was told the only way to do it, since all sites are first come-first served, is for the first person there to select all the sites. However, I believe first the sites would have to be paid in full, and also that first person would have to have all of the reservations information. With a group of about 22 sites, that's a lot of information that would be needed. Then I asked if there was an area we could get in that it would be easier for everyone to get close together, and was told sites in the 60's and 70's would work because they are farther from the water, and fill up later.

At this time I would like to know if there is anyone that plans to be there early on Friday....like shortly after 8 AM, that could get all of the sites?

I will be driving to my sister's house on Thurs nite and can get to the park pretty early Fri morning, but not quite that early. I have a call in to find out how early we can check in, unless you already know that. I was hoping we could snag sites in the 230's, 260's or 270's. If the weather is good, I plan on bringing my kayak, so I'll be hunting sites on the water when I get there.

Why can't our park service reserve ahead like Louisiana?

I just heard back from TPWD and the 8a.m. Steve mentioned is the early arrival time. Getting there that early brings up another issue--since checkout time is 2 p.m., sites that might be available later in the day might still have sleepy heads in them.

Let's make this simple--everyone get there at 8 a.m. Wish it weregoing to be that simple.

When we get a little closer, I will be glad to collect info to try to tie up a lot of sites early, but I sure don't know about 22 sites! I'm already responsible for 3 as it is, and I know my sis and niece will be will be a lot more aggravated than y'all if I don't snag them the "perfect" site.

And how do I arrange to put Spinnernut's ah-oo-gah at the other end of the park without him gettin' riled? He's a lot bigger than me and I think he could hurt me pretty easily! :D

We should be there by about 9 or 10, but again, that's a should.

We need a list of the reservations with the name under which the reservation is made.

i"m still very iffy.... would be more positive about coming if I could buy that $62 million powerball ticket this weekend.

I figured for me it would be about like the trip to LCG ... about $135 in gas and 6-7 hr drive.

If it's a go, I'll call the park a/s/a/p.

thanks for the photos Steve !!! Anymore I tend to just take pictures of people and food .

I'll have to check mine, I made them so long ago that I don't remember. The reserve america account was under my wife's name but I remember having to sign up again. It could be this or it could be something else. I'll check tomorrow.

I think there is a corkboard at the front office. Whoever gets there first can post a note saying where they setup camp. I'm planning to do a recon trip out there this weekend. It's been a while since I've been there, I don't remember which loop has the good sites.
