Why'd You Choose Your Username and What's It Mean?

Postby Sarge » Fri Apr 01, 2005 12:23 am

"Sarge" comes from the fact that I'm a retired city cop. 18 years on the Department and then medically retired. I earned my stripes and am darn proud of them, that's why I chose "Sarge."

I work for an international software engineering company now. Big change, but I'm enjoying the ride.

How about you?

Don't "should" on yourself, there are plenty of others who will "should" on you for no reason. Accept what you did and move on. Life is too short.

My folks chose my name for me. I didn't have any choice, but it's ok. I've gotten used to it.

Bigwoods

Postby Bigwoods » Fri Apr 01, 2005 12:48 am

My name Bigwoods comes from the canoe camping I do in Boundary Waters Canoe Area and the Superior National Forest. I camp in some very bigwoods. Oddly enough, it is our township name, in western Minnesota, and we are in wheat country, where we have no woods at all.

Syekick - I've used this for decades. Even as a CB handle. A play on the word psychic. An ability that I don't have nor want. I'll take life as it comes thank you very much. I found it just unusual enough that it is memorable.

It does lend itself to the easy comeback of "I knew you were going to ask this question," or " I knew you'd say that."

Then again my wife refers to me as being psychotic or chaotic among other names when she's mad at me. ;) You'd think after 33 years she'd be used to me. Ha!

Mine comes from several sources. We call our home 'Camp ADK' because we like the term 'camp' after seeing all the great camps in the adirondacks, and added ADK to it which is the short form for adirondacks. Also ADK are are first initials.. Adam, Dave, Kathy.

My wife and I were driving on interstate 81 going south one day and we came upon a large class A RV with a VW bug hooked up with a towbar. The license plate on the VW read "RVPUSHR". Since I drive a toyota tacoma 4x4 and we are building a teardrop trailer, I want to have the plate reflect "TOYPSHR". My tear will be pushing my toyota, therein the name

Mine is simply my first name, which is actually a shortened version of my second name, my actual first name is so awful I've never used it, and the initial of my last name. My mother was superstitious and believed if your initials formed a word, it was good luck, but even she never called me by my first name. :?

Is this goofy, or what? Bet your even sorry you asked!

Mine is pretty self descriptive. It simply describes my tow vehicle. 8)

When I was born, in Dallas they charged by the letter to put your name on your birth certificate. My parents were so poor that all they could afford was one letter. The hospital threw in the period for free.

April Fools. But D. is actually my full legal first name.

Postby Larwyn » Fri Apr 01, 2005 9:16 am

I came up with "Larwyn" because there was always more than one Larry everywhere I went. It is a combination of Larry and Wayne, my first and middle name. I think I may be the only Larwyn around so that just makes things easier. I have used the name for so long now that many people only know me by that name. No need for first name, last name, description to figure out who I am..... :)

Postby Geron » Fri Apr 01, 2005 9:24 am

Geron is my real name. No problem being unique. The name is really very rare. Asked my Dad how he came up with it and he just said, "Just made it up." The greek root means "little old man" as per "Gerontology" the study of the aging.

Sound like an April Fool's but it's true. BTW April 1 was my mother's birthday. Never forgot it!

Postby JunkMan » Fri Apr 01, 2005 9:28 am

A good friend tagged me with JunkMan many years ago because I like to collect projects (unfortunatly, I don't do real good at finishing them). At one time I had over 50 motorcycles, everything from a Vespa scooter to a 1916 Harley with a sidecar.

I currently have over a dozen VW's, a 1939 Ford school bus, a 1947 Flxible Clipper, a 1979 Unimog, and several other old trucks, campers, trailers, and tractors. And thats only the big stuff!
