Shocking News - Just a few Kilometers Away

Postby Classic Finn » Wed Nov 07, 2007 9:13 am

Shocking News to All.. Just a few Kilometers away from us.

This from our International Papers in English

http://tinyurl.com/2pk4kz

There are more dead found than was reported when it happened..
This young man had also written on You Tube as how he was planning this incident.

Also he stated to Police here that he took ideas or examples of the shootings in schools from the USA. It was planned for a long period of time with the weapons found.

He had shown arial views of the school and released a photo of himself having a gun pointing at the school. And saying he was from Finland.

Terrible as it is...Finland flies its flag at half mast for silence and prayer to the familes and victims of the incident.

That's awful :(
Why are there so many people out there who are so interested in making the world a scary place?

Its real sad and scary.. Guess our children are not safe anywhere. Up to now the children have been safe in a good society here.

What is happening I just dont understand it. Just on the News again updated, now a total of 7 bodies have been found and about a dozen severly injured. Some died upon arrival to Hospitals here.

Very sad.
The only thing we can hope for, is that tragedies like this serve as a reminder that we all have to do what we can, everyday, to take care of the world and each other and set good examples for our children.
:(

Gosh Dangit, can't everybody learn to be NICE to each other?!?!?!

Oh Heikki. Our hearts and prayers go out to your neighbors and country men. It is scary when children are targeted.

Ohh how I pray that it dont ever happen again and looking at my own children it brings tears to my eyes a lot just by thinking about this event.
I just hope God keeps our children safe wherever they may be.

Heikki,

A terrible incident. :( And so close to your home.

I thought the EU had banned guns. Too bad some teacher there didn't have a gun, maybe it would have saved some lives.

Just goes to prove ....guns don't kill people, crazy people kill people.

Hi MikeC

Finnish Gun Laws has been very tight even before the EU.. Handguns are about impossible to get but still rifles are not so..

It could be he used his parents or friends rifle. Nothing has been said about the type of weapon.. also it could be he bought it from the neighboring countrymen meaning mafia ... who knows..

In either event a handgun or rifle people died .. and for what purpose?
I hope they put this guy away for good.. however Finland does not have the death penalty..

Anyway it dont bring these people back that are now dead.. looks like the pricipal died aslo as well as a teacher.. The gunman was a student in the same school..and had acted strange for sometime..

And now here is his reply for acting strange ...

Heikki,

Just read about it on the Drudge Report. He said this kid posted a Youtube video telling what he was going to do before he did it. It said he pointed a handgun at the camera in the video, and here is what he said on the video.

The YouTube video, entitled "Jokela High School Massacre - 11/7/2007", was posted by a user called Sturmgeist89.

"I am prepared to fight and die for my cause," read a posting by a user of the same name.

"I, as a natural selector, will eliminate all who I see unfit, disgraces of human race and failures of natural selection." "Sturmgeist" means storm spirit in German.

There appears to be a sickness or a loss of respect for human life in the younger generation, or maybe it is a feeling of hopelessness ?

Sad, very sad!!!!!!

Yes thats the one. There is a Press Conference by Police going on and
5 Boys and 2 Girls plus Principal died. Plus more got injuries from glass blown all over.

Also he then shot himself and is in very critical condition. Not far from from us.

But yes thats the Video.

Sad in more ways than one..

The Shooter turned 18 in June, had applied for a gun permit for a shooting club he joined after turning 18.

No prior records.

The handgun was a 22 caliber.. he was also into the ideology of Stalin and Hitler.

Very sad! :( Not much else to say! Couldn't even begin to imagine dropping my kids off at school and something like this happening at their school. I would be posting from a padded room soon after if it were my kids.

In my opinion its - always expect the unexpected no matter where you are and who you are.

Scandinavia has always been known for being secure, safe and a good place to live. Guess that has changed today.

So much for my own specualtions as how he did get hold of a gun.

Heikki, I just read the news this morning and was so saddened to hear about this. I have almost come to expect to hear about stuff like this happening in the U.S. (as sad as that is), but it is shocking to hear about it happening over there where you are. My thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
