Inks Lake Pot Luck

Postby SteveH » Mon Nov 05, 2007 3:47 pm

Ok, CaseyDog asked for it, and here it is....I thought I would make a pot of chili since it may be cold. I can also bring a table and an awning for the pot luck dinner area.

Now, I might warn you, I like beans in my chili. If you don't, and want to eat chili, I have two suggestions for you....either eat around the beans, or bring some chili without beans!

Thank you Toda Tear for making sweet potatoe fries. Steve, I can also make a pot of chile without beans if we need more chile. Let me know how much we may need.

What goes better with chili than cornbread. I'll make some cornbread in the DO. I still have a bunch of cups left over from LCG so I'll bring those with some tea and soda.

As I said in the other thread, I have a pick-em-up truck for that weekend, so I can bring my smoker. It holds quite a bit of meat. Anyone want to share smoker space?

Oh, one word of warning. In the last month or two, I have had two press vehicles scheduled to me get wrecked by the journalist who had the vehicle right before me. Hopefully, this phenomenon does not occur in threes. If so, the Zaudi does not hold a smoker.

However, I am an optimist, so let's plan to do some smokin'. :Flippin Burger:

I'm sorry Daniel, no one in the South Central group likes apple pie. You will just have to give them to me when you get there and I will dispose of them correctly! ;)

Would anyone frown if I just bring plates and stuff? My cooking skills are usually limited to sammitches.

I know I might be uninvited for this, but I'm not bringing the margarita maker. With the "no alcohol" rule in Texas parks, I don't want to be hit with a $276 per open container violation. Sorry. I am just chicken and can't afford the potential fines, and every time I turn on the thing it draws a big crowd.

I am bringing my dog, though.

YUM! Hot flaming turkey! I've done that a couple of times. Makes a tasty turkey.

My sister says she will call the park tomorrow to find out about the "fires" situation as there is indeed a county fire ban in effect in Burnet County.

Ker just told me, she'll make up a pot of Hatch Green Chile Stew. It'll go well with Rocky's cornbread.
