That would be a ton of side overhang. You'll probably have a ton of rocking with the wheel so inset. You would probably HAVE to call it "The Weebeel" You would have over a foot of overhand fron the spring mounts. That is the point that you have to worry about not the outside edge of the tire. The springs are the point of support. You could widen the frame and axle and it should be fine.

So is it your plan to encase the tires with the camper? Being a 1' wider than the frame, I don't see why not. A lot of campers have the wheels outside the body and the body is basically frame width. This keeps the interior small width. By expanding the floor space, you get more room and also volume on the inside.

For the rear overhang, you should watch what you could be dragging.

I would think that if your do NOT widen the frame that you will HAVE to keep you center of gravity as low as possible for stability. JMHO!

Chubby is 5'7" out to out what's another 2 1/2" per side. It hasn't rolled over in a curve yet !!! The wheel stance out to out on a HF 4X8 is about 52" +/-.
Growing older but not up !

I don't see it as being a problem. Just watch the weight.

Im going to buildd an untra light weight weekender on it, its only going to be 5x8. Im thinking 1/2 inch for the floor 1/4 inch for the sides and no supports but the bulkead in the front and a few spars (about every 2 feet). interior walss are going t be carpeted with an automotive carpet.
