Sure have! It's been a few years, but I can't imagine they have changed a whole lot. We camped up in the National Forest campground. We stayed a few days in picture perfect weather. There were tons of trail roads to follow with the Jeep. We got to see and touch a black bear that the forest rangers had shot with a tranquilizer. They were re-locating it because he was getting somewhat brave with the tourists.

The next leg of our trip was to the east coast. It was over 100 degrees! It was miserable camping weather (we were tenting it at the time). So we turned around and headed back into the mountains where the weather was in the 70s and beautiful because of the altitude.

It was fun being up in the mountains and traveling down to Gatlinburg. It's a textbook tourist trap town, complete with wax museums and haunted houses..

The scenery is really spectacular! Here is a link to the Forestry Service Photo Albums

I went to your link expecting a picture. :(

but the info is very cool also. How do you like your Garmin? I have a couple of customers with them. The only complaint I have heard so far... is it does not have enough battery life for longer [many hour] rides.

I noticed in your data... it gives wind speed and direction... How does it do that??

I have been comtemplating one.. I would use it on my bikes also but am really interested in it for cross country skiing... and actually trail running also.

I hope you had a good ride.

I know they have some big bluegrass festivals there. Nashville isn't real far from there, that's the home of country music. That's another real beautiful area. Lynchburg is close too, the home of Jack Daniels.. 8)

Hello everyone!

Wow...Mr. Finn when you started this thread this morning I bet you didn't figure this would happen. Don't you wish you had this kind of attention when you asked a real question?

Got back from Chicago a couple hours ago in one piece and still hate going down there!

Just got done making pork chops in mushroom gravy and spending time with the family and thought I would come and check on you guys and gals. I was going to post on the Thread Killer thread first, but the posts were to long, so I figure I would check in here and go make a drink and go to try and get up to speed over there.

Heikki....did you find anyone yet???? :)
It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.

I've had it last fine for rides in excess of 8 hours. As for the weather, after you upload the info to MotionBased, it goes and fetches the weather from the nearest weather station, which in my case is Smyrna.

I'm right in the middle of all that area you guys are discussing, 30 miles east of Nashville.

I actually worked today pouring cement, not my usual job but it was overtime. And Heikki, some people are probably starting their Thanksgiving holiday early (kids are off school all week around here).
