Shiney teardrop

I have noticed by the pictures most of you post that all of your teardrops are extremely shiney and look in pristine condition. Mine got all scratched up during construction in spite of my precautions. How do you guys get them that way and then keep them looking so good. Whats the secret? thanks

I cheated.................and used a satin finish on mine. The only thing shiny on my td is the hub caps.

Well, for one thing. I took my time and the alum was the last to be installed after every thing else was finished. Paid close attention as to what I was working with and was aware that alun scratches easy. It's just a matter of taking your time and not being in a rush to get it done.

I put mine on last thing as well, I did all my cutting with a Jigsaw from the backside of the aluminum. I laid the aluminum face down on a sheet of 1 foam insulation and cut through both.

Mone got scratched up after it was built. The thing that you should watch out for is hand and finger prints during construction. One other tip, make sure to wipe off amy sweat that falls on the aluminum.

My sheet came with a protective film on it. It did not come off until is was completly done. Believe me I did want to pull it off though.

My aluminum was scratched before I ever touched it and used it anyway since it was the only thing available locally over 48".

Check out this thread. It's a lot of unnecessary work that can be prevented with a little care. Danny
