Eye Over Houston?

I know someone who works for the company who makes these. I don't think I'd like one in my town. Danny

Danny,

It's spelled Houston. :)

And, unless you like insane traffic, you don't want to go there! But, that's just my opinion. There are people from there that actually like it.

I used to work for a company that was headquartered there, and everyone lived in fear of being transferred there. I frequently said there wasn't enough money to get me to move there, but then I rethough that and realized there is lots of money in Houston. So, then I said, "there's enough money in Houston to get me to move there, but I'm not worth that much to anyone".

I had a co worker in the 80's that had lived there for a few years .He said there was too much uncontrolled growth in the Houston area but it was great for the building trades. I was told those unmanned planes were to catch speeders in the desert, who knows. Danny

The best way to avoid Houston traffic is to not live in Houston. I live North of Houston and work 4 10's so I don't have to go there everyday.
If you want insane traffic go to Dallas. It's not too bad here unless you live in Katy.
I don't think they are going to use them for speeders in the desert as there is not a desert for 300-400 miles from here. They are probally using them to spot people growing pot in the woods. Houston is surrounded by thick woods and the county sheriff here patrols the woods in a helicopter to spot the weed growing.

Danny,

Yes, sorry about the hijack....remote control a/c can be used for many things now days. The main thing they can do is carry a camera and send the picture back to the ground via a video link, and so can be used cheaply for all kinds of survelance and search. They are even being flown by auto pilot via a computer and gps unit so they will fly a preprogrammed flight path, and then return to the launch site. There are several companies building them for the government, and I believe they are available to the public also. There is even a company in Alabama, I believe, that uses helicopters...small ones, but bigger than most r/c helis.

Rocky, My office is downtown, 60 miles. I leave before rush hour in the morning and afternoon. 6am to 4pm It takes 1 hour and 15 minutes each way.
When I lived in Dallas it took me 2 1/2 hours each way. From Irving to Plano. 30 miles.

Of course we have this just up the road from us. If you keep your eyes open on the skies to the north of here you will occasionally see one.

Living near Nellis Air Force base, you get to see a lot of different kinds of aircraft. Of course Area 51 isn't that far away....
