Just one more thought on using a cheeter bar, things do break. So have some thought as to where you might land if something does break. Also push, don't pull, if it hits you in the chest it hurts.

I agree...it hurts when they do break loose and you bail with a bar into the chest. I only mention using a breaker bar and a cheater pipe as I don't know what Heikki has for tools in his shop, and thought this might be an easy way to go. It's kind of one of those things...if you want it to twist off, it won't, when you don't want it to...it does. I figured that based on the wheels he had previously, that maybe they were really rusted up to the point of corrosion and that the studs might just be weak, so this might be an easy way out. Heikki, there are lots of ways to do it, just figure out what tools you have that might do the job and plan. Has any one used one of those nut splitters that push a wedge into the nut to open it up? I haven't but that may be another idea. Doug

I have one and they work great... but, I don't think you could get it on the nuts inside those wheels? Let alone turn the bolt to drive the wedge... That is why I mentioned torching off (or grinding off) the stud heads from the rear of the hub flange. I didn't mention (because I assumed it was obvious?) You do have to take the axle nut off and remove the wheel & brake drum together first.

PB blaster squirted liberally and tapped with a hammer and let it sit over night and the nuts will come off like a prom dress.
