8) I saw this on the news, they were showing all the protesters screaming for her execution and for some reason I instantly thought "wheres a couple of plane loads of napalm when you need it the most?" :x

Make's me wonder.

Who whipped up the people in to this frenzy.

It would take someone to report the teacher, then spread the word, as well as let the masses know that they are supposed to be mad.

Or I guess this could just happen naturally......

Oh, I'm sure some religious leader or group rounded up some sheeple to pull this little show off. I doubt most of them knew or cared about the teddy bear named Mohammed until some religious zealot told them to.

Religions were created to control people. Not all religious leaders use their power over people for stuff like this, but like they say, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Separation of church and state looks really good when you read stories like this.

It seems to me that the 'whipped up...frenzy' might be what saves this teacher. Do you supose that maybe an effort was made by the more tolerant to make this so public that the end result would be her safety not her death? Stirring a crowd up has worked in the past to bring about the unexpected.

A crowd?? Did you ever look beyond what the camera shows (of course not that would not be newsworthy) Whenever the camera pans outward, usually it shows some bystanders - puzzled -wondering what is going on. And for those demonstrations – a few cell phone call and a meeting place with some cameras to shoot the action and presto – a full blown media event! My suggestion for Islamic zealosy is to send over the skinheads and white surpremist groups – hell they’ve been looking for a fight – lets give it to them. Problem solved on both ends – let em-kill each other for God and country. Darn now I’ve offended the skinheads

Could this just be an extention of the total diregard for women in the Islamic religion?. :thinking:

The way they cut off heads, hands and feet, shouldn't it be renamed the religion of "pieces?" :thinking:


And I know somebody is going to say that we still execute people here in the U.S., but with the ACLU and the courts, we are so careful that they feel no pain when we kill them, it makes me sick. Where was all this phony sympathy for the people they tortured, maimed and killed. :x

Just my 2 cents worth, and kinda off topic. ;)

Gonna give some of you a little perspective on Judaism and the attittde of Jews in the U.S. (Just about EVERY Jew, even an athiest like me.)

We are MANIACAL in our support for the state of Israel, because it's the only country "we've" ever had. And if Israel was around in the 30s, the holocaust would never have taken place.

So now we have a mideast situation where just about every muslim country assails the sins of Zionism, a Jewish state--that's its not okay to create a state based on religion. That it's morally unacceptable.

HUH????????????????????????????????????

So what the hell have the REST of these monkeys been doing all these years?

And I gotta tell you--the support that Israel has gotten from the evangelical and other Christian denominations has been INCREDIBLE. It has meant all the difference in the world to Israel's survival.

This truly is an example of "us" versus "them."

You do understand why, though, don't you? It's not like Evangelicals actually care about Jews or Isreal. It's about bringing about Armageddon. That temple needs to be rebuilt, so Jesus can come back. Ira, your going to have to convert to Christianity when that happens, or perish, according to them.

I was raised a Christian, and the Christian Bible is not exactly a beacon of fairness to women.

Genesis 3:16: "Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."

Oh, and wasn't it Lot who offered his virgin daughters to a mob of rapists to save a couple of angels? Nice.

And if a slave woman is raped, according to Leviticus, she should be killed.

My ex-wife had an affair. According to the Bible, she should have been stoned to death, and the guy owes me some cattle.

This is good, too. When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)

We Americans COULD be just a cruel as the fundamentalist muslims, based on our Judeo/Christian religious doctrines. But, lucky for American Women, Americans only pretend to believe the Bible is the word of a Diety, and ignore most of it.

The world needs a new renaissance. Religion is getting out of hand, again.

Everything you quote is from the Old Testament i.e. written before Jesus, whereas the principle that permeates the New Testament is one of forgiveness and reconciliation through God's love. "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
