Dinosaur Valley State Park (Anyone?)

I am in need of your reviews. I am thinking about taking the family for a campout there. I would like to know your experience with the place and staff. If there is anything that would make the stay better. How far in advance should reservations be made in your opinion. All info you can give me.

And while your at it, if the date is good, would this be a place you guys might like to get together with me and my family and make a gathering out of it.

In my little Texas State Park Guide, it shows to have.....hiking trails, nature/interpretive trails, biking trails, equestrian trails, fishing, swimming, picnic tables, park store, day use group facility, water and electric campsites, restrooms, showers, dump station, and wheelchair accessible. It also has a footprint icon that may mean walk-in campsites.

Any info is good info and I really appreciate it.
I want to thank you again for the wonderful job you did getting our sites at Inks Lake. That was perfect and it is so beautiful there.

We have camped there many times & always enjoyed it. It only has about 46 campsites with water & elect. so make reservations. Let us know when you are going & we will try to meet up with you. It's only about 50 miles from our house.

I'm thinking of making it when we can be sure that it will be warm enough and not so windy. Another thing, our work schedules have changed so it might be after the first of the year before I am sure of a date.
My main concern was if it was a nice place to go, since I am new to this camping thing. It looked good in the guide and I got a few good reviews above. So I think it is safe to say that it is worth a visit.
Now if I could get an idea of how many might be interested in going and maybe some suggestions on a date. As soon as I get work schedules straight, I can make plans.

Yeah, that's what is holding me back from making a commitment. I know my work schedule next year, but we don't know my wife's. Heck, we don't even know WHERE she will be working next year.

We camped there in January a few years ago & the park was almost full. When you decide on a date let us know & we will do our best to make it there.

Have never camped there, just done a couple of day trips. It is a great park, with trails and you are able to go down in the river bed where there are dinosaur tracks. Would like to come to the camp-in if we can make it.

I have been there to look at the dinosaur tracks, haven't camped there. It is a nice place. If your going to look at the tracks you need to consider the time of the year.

I copied this from a site about the park.

"When is the best time to visit the park? For the best chance of seeing the most dinosaur tracks, late summer is ideal, when the river typically is running very low, and the greatest number of tracks are exposed. However, it is also the hottest time of year, and often the most crowed. Mid May is a pleasant time to visit, when temperatures are cooler, at least some tracks are usually dry. Around that time the park is also less crowded, and vast fields of bluebonnets are in bloom. Fall is another pleasant time to visit, especially late September or early October, when the river often is still running low, but temperatures are bearable. Often rains have started by late October, but the last weekend of October features a great fossil show called Fossilmania at the exposition center on Rt. 67, which is sponsored by the Dallas Paleontology Society and the Austin Paleontology Society. "
