Helium-3 as an energy source?

Postby Lesbest » Fri Nov 30, 2007 10:17 pm

Heard on the radio today about H-3 as an energy source. They said a shuttleful would supply ALL the energy needs of the US for one year.

We have 28kg stored here now from nuclear weapon maintaince.

The moon is covered in it--its in the dust. No wonder the Chinese are hot to get to the moon.

We need to try this as there is no polution, no greenhouse gasses, and no radiation.
Sounds like neat stuff-maybe we can make it work--and the Middle East can keep their Dinosaur juice.

Anybody have plans for a perpetual motion machine? Just hook up a generator to it. :R

Or we can just hook the generator up to a methane digester.

We really must get a "gas mask" emoticon. I know I'm not the first one to need it.

I think there a misconnect according to this http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/11/071129183725.htm Helium-3/ Helium-4 isotopic ratios in groundwater is a good indication of the availability of geothermal energy sources.

H-3 to me is tritium, an isotope of hydrogen which is a fusion fuel along with deuterium (H-2) that is converted to helium in a hydrogen bomb, a tomak fusion reactor, or supposidly a cold fusion reactor (Mr Fusion?) A simple explanation of the process and its energy yeild is given here http://www.lancs.ac.uk/ug/eardley/hydrogen_fusion.htm

Thanks Raprap-after reading the last link, my head hurts.

Global warming is caused by clean air and the sunlight hitting the earth. I think I will help stop the warming and burn wood, and get my old oil burning 59 Ford running again. The more soot in the air the less sunlight that will hit the earth and cool it.

That was easy wasn't it?
