hmmmm potluck? No idea yet what I'll bring. It'll likely be dessert this time.... or maybe deviled eggs... that sounds good , huh?

I haven't made a reservation ..is that a MUST? I'll do it this week and email you Todah! Likely, I'll take off at noon Friday and be down there before dark, or might just take the whole day.

It's rainy, humid and TERRIBLY windy in Oklahoma city today...

Do we bring one present per person or one per campsite? We're not really sure how Chinese gift giving works. What did ya'll do last year. Looking forward to finding out.

Woody

Woody, that's a good question. We might better do one per person because each person who is playing will need to have brought a gift. Remeber, it doesn't have to be expensive. It can be a serious gift or a gag one.

I'm getting pretty excited about this Christmas gathering too.

Karol, on Wednesday I went and picked up the door prizes that you sent. I haven't had a chance to open the box yet, but I'm sure they are great. I just had surgery on my arm yesterday, so I won't be tearing into much for the next couple of days. Let me know if there is any breakable in the box and I'll get it a friend to open it.

Okay, I'm lost as to what has been volunteered for food. Who wants to manage a Ray Roberts food thread?

Todah-
Nothing breakable! You can be pretty rough with it. It'll be ok! Just don't cut into the box very far. Hope your surgery helps everything feel better! Wish I could fiqure out a way to join you all next weekend. Too too much to do, and too many places to be. I have no more free Saturdays until January. Whats with all these people getting married in December anyway? Don't they know that I have other things to do? Oh well...ya'll have fun!

CD, it might be a good idea to start a separate food thread. Reference this post as a starter. It includes the list that was orignally posted to keep us from having too much food.

"Here's a thought. To keep from having too much food, consider volunteering for one of these.

2 people bring 1 chicken each (fried, baked, smoked, etc.)
1 person small portion of beef (brisket or roast or whatever)
1 person small portion of PORK (roast, ham, chops, or whatever)
2 people bread (cornbread, french, bisquits...)
2 people - regular desert
1 person - sugar-free desert
2 people - plastic ware and napkins
1 person - cups
2 people - a gallon of a beverage (tea or, punch or, soda: diet and regular)
1 person bring a festive tablecloth

***Everyone else bring a small portioned side dish (will feed 4-5 people). People seem to always get small samples of each dish so that they can taste everyone's food. That is why I suggested a small portioned side dish.

* Surgery: Everything went well. Thanks for well wishes and offers to help. Hopefully, but Thursday, the soreness will be gone.

Rocky, too bad you guys can't make it. It's a great time of year to camp. I'm getting ready to load the firewood for next weekend in few minutes. We traveled light at Inks Lake because it was only three of us after that weekend. The other kids went home & we went on camping for the next 7 days. We camped in 4 other state parks & traveled 1400 miles. Had a great time.

Will we still be at the Du Bois branch? Anybody post directions?

Todah Tear wrote:Let's plan on Dec. 7th.

I just called the Du Bois Branch. They said that for December reservations, we should call Austin (512) 389-8900. As usual, the area has water and electric. Specific sites are selected when you check in. In December, I will check in on Thursday night and can reserve sites for those who paid in advance.

Scott and Gerri,

I called a few weeks ago and Quail Run is supposed to be closed until spring, just like they did last year. The Deer Ridge section and all others will be open. They closed the Quail Run area because they get less business during the winter months and it gives them less area to patrol. The trails are still open in the Quail Run area though.

We camped in Deer Ridge last year.

WEATHER ----

Friday, Dec 7
High: 70 °F RealFeel®: 67 °F
Mostly sunny and mild

Friday Night, Dec 7
Low: 58 °F RealFeel®: 53 °F
Partly cloudy and mild

Saturday, Dec 8
High: 71 °F RealFeel®: 67 °F
Rather cloudy, breezy and warm

Saturday Night, Dec 8
