New Builder from Oklahoma

Postby Toytaco2 » Mon Dec 10, 2007 2:54 pm

Hello from Oklahoma.

I've been reading this site for a while and learned quite a bit already. I discovered tear drop trailers a couple of years ago and you guys have inspired me. I'm ready, along with my two grown sons to start building either a TD or TTT. We will share the finished trailer. My own use will be winter deer hunting trips in Oklahoma and perhaps an occasional road trip. My two boys will be on their own for wherever they would like to go. It should be a really fun project for us to do together.

We plan to build by using our old pop-up for parts and misc. The old frame size measures 77" wide x 94" long. We could use it as is and do a TTT or modify for a TD. As of now we're thinking a Benroy style TD 5' high x 5' wide x 9' long. One of the main objectives will be light weight as two of us will use a Toyota Tacoma (one 6 cyl and the other a 4 cyl) as tow vehicles. The other tow vehicle is full size pickup so no problems either way for it.

Looking forward to participating in the forum and building our trailer! Here are some pics of the our humble beginnings:

Hello T,

Thanks Steve, I figured that out after the post. Hopefully, lol, my only mistake in the TD project.

Hi Toytaco2,

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you are off to a good start. Did you get anything bad out of the ice storm? If we can help, just ask, we like questions.

See you around.
