Hatch hinge

Anyone see any issues with this hinge? I'm just waiting on a price but its looks like it should work well with an aluminium profile to screw to the frame and a flexible polyurethane hinge section and rated to carry 2050kg (in the length I'm after). Also it's relatively local to me which has been one of the biggest hassles building the TD here in Australia.

Looks great!. As long as you don't have edge-grain plywood to screw it to, I can't see any problems! Especially if aussie delivery is good! How would you seal it - caulk?

Steve, that's similar to what I use except mine is a single piece polyurethane type hard black plastic. My only concern would be that it is two pieces clamped together. Apart from that I think it should be fine.

I have a sample of that one and was what I planned to use but I've been told shipping it would be expensive as it would have to be by courier due to the length etc. I'm hoping this one is around the same price as I should be able to pick it up, it's about 20km from me instead of 1000km

I have the same hinge as Paul has and that is a great one to use. Cant leak for one thing and that is enough for me..

Got a price on the hinge $5 more than the one Paul uses but that is for 1.8m and I can go pick it up which will save another decent chunk The extra piece (once I trim it) may be used for a small tongue box to go between my Jerry Cans.

Getting it after Christmas so will post my thoughts.

Steve, how far is it to Lidcombe from your place? The reason I ask is that UES have an office there and they stock the same hinge as I use in 1.5m and 3m lengths.

I helped Arne locate a hinge the same as mine earlier this year. They are available from a supplier in Canada. If you PM Arne he should be able to give you the details.

iTb (Intercontinental Truck Body) has a location right here in Calgary. I will try to visit them next week and find out more about availability and cost for the hinge. I will also see if I can find any US dealers rather than having to do the "cross boarder" thing.
