Also clean and oil the gun well after your swim!

Well, sounds like a good idea------until its found while crossing home from Canada---both border guardians consider them "drug smuggling devices". Florida has a law making it a felony to posess a vehicle with a hidden compartment in the state. (again DRUG Smuggling related charges even if empty)
Caveat Emptor,YMMV, ETC.

Luckily I don't look like a drug smuggler !

When I built the Zephyr I made a "basement". I keep the spare tire here and other heavy things. Keeping the weight close to the axel makes sense to me. It is also my safe place.

I don’t look at some of my storage spots as secret but it might take someone a long time to find and open up some of the storage compartments. I just think of them as optimum use of available space…

Does a trailer fall into the legal definition of a vehicle? This is an interesting topic, because there is no malice in wanting a "safe" place in one's trailered "domicile."

In this state , your truck/trailer is considered an extension of your home , so you can carry anything you want , within reason of course...Besides we usually carry so much stuff anyway , wouldn't be hard to "stash" the old S&W in the bedroll...

A secret compartment is a brilliant idea. I have seen the under floor and that reminds me of the tire storage I have in my rig. I really like the idea of sliding a panel or two like those japanese puzzle boxes and having a secret spot for my keys or other valuables.
