Hello Mr. Lincoln

Got me a welder yestidy.

Image

Went to a welding supply and asked to purchase a Small 115 volt welder.
Know what he advised?
"Go to HD or TS and buy a Lincoln, Hobart, or Miller. Way cheaper than I can sell it to you. Bring it back and I'll get you a bottle of gas for it."

So I did just that. Got a Lincoln. Next model up was a 220.

Now I gotta find something to "BURN" ;)

Gotta do something about that cart.

Would build one like airspeeds:

But ain't that thing ugly. I'd be ashamed of that thing in my shop :applause: :applause:    :thumbs up1:
Would love to have it in my Living Room!!!!
I DO Like that!!!!

Well it sounds like your first "burn" project could be a cart. Get you some 1X1x1/8 angle iron and a set of wheels from Harbor Freight and you could have the cart of your dreams. I found that Harbor Freight had a very good slection of wheels when I built my smoker. Good luck.

Nice cart. Gives me some good idees!

Tried it out today on a couple pieces of drop.

My last welding experience was 20 plus years ago with a cheap stick welder. Seems like it was maybe 40-75 amps??? It was a little bitty thing.
Couldn't hold an arc. The welding stick would stick in the puddle. Slag everywhere. Poor penetration -- Yes, I remember it all. Was a pointless frustrating task.

Today -- Absolutely no comparison!!!!!!!! Beautiful ripple, Good penetration, Very little slag (Flux core not MIG) that could be almost brushed off. Unbelievable. Should bought one years ago.

Now to fix my hitch. Build a cart. Design my chassis for the 6' Axle. Go to work on the pop-up chassis.

People ask me what I'm gonna do when I retire -- Geezzz!
I'll have to get a job to support my habits . . . uhhhh! Hobbies.

Well... If you like it with flux core... You'll love it with gas! Beautiful clean welds with no slag is cool!

Don't make your cart too portable. I built a real nice one from a Radio Flyer wagon for my first welder. Somebody wheeled it right out of the yard, down the driveway, and out of my life.

The carts all look nice---but they are missing the least used but most wanted piece of hardware........................a fire extinguisher!!!!!!!!!
If you build a fire--you better be able to knock it down. In the intensity of thought that welding takes sometimes we don't see the errant spark that starts a fire near (or far)from our work. When we discover it we need the stopper near us--usually the cart is close by-hang one on there--so if you don't have a fire watchman, or woman, you don't get a big suprise!!
Good welding, Les
