Salt Lake City, UT area suppliers for build parts

Postby jmtk » Sun Jan 06, 2008 10:22 pm

I compiled a list of the Salt Lake City area suppliers that I frequented during my build. I didn't bother with the obvious places like Home Depot or Lowe's, but just listed those with the harder-to-find things like Baltic birch and stainless steel screws. I hope it helps some of you out on the teardrop parts scavenger hunt game. Please feel free to add to the list if you know of other great places. 8)

Enjoy!

Jeanette

All the Baltic birch you could ever want and any other specialty plywood:

Macbeath Hardwood Company
1576 S. 300 W.
Salt Lake City, UT
801-484-7616

Lots and lots of general RV and trailer supplies, everything from electrical things,
hatch locks, door handles, vent covers, table pedestals, deep-cycle batteries, bearing
grease, tongue jacks, you name it:

State Trailer Supply
3600 S. Redwood
West Valley City, UT
801-887-7494

Lots of great stuff here! I wish I'd found this place early in my build!
LED lights, electrical things like fuse blocks and master switches, high-quality varnish,
even stainless steel screws (but I preferred Fastener Engineering for SS things):

Boaters World
2150 S. State
Salt Lake City, UT
801-461-0046

Get stainless steel things here - screws, bolts, continuous (piano) hinges. They didn't always
have the sizes or quantities in stock that I wanted, but quickly special-ordered them for me:

Fastener Engineering
185 W. 1700 S.
Salt Lake City, UT
801-487-5406

Running gear stuff: wheels, axles, replacement tail light lenses:

Henderson Wheel and Warehouse Supply
1825 S. 300 W.
Salt Lake City, UT
801-486-2073

I'm sure this list will help new builders in your area immensely. We've all had to do the search, locally and on the internet for building supplies. It should be made into a sticky for this section.

That's a great list...

Add

Bolt & Nut Supply Co.
6987 South 300 West
801 566-7733

Bolt & Nut Supply Co.
2212 West Temple
801 486-0088

When you go to State Trailer Supply on Redwood Rd.

Tell them your building a teardrop trailer.

They like teardrop builders a lot!

THanks for the great list. I just wanted to add that Intermountain Wood Products is another place in SLC to get nice Baltic birch panels. The only drawback is they come in 5' x 5' size panels but they are cabinet quality. They did have some bendable plywood but I think it bent the wrong direction. (The 8'side on a 4x8.)

Intermountain Wood Products
1948 S West Temple
(801) 486-5411
I cut it three times and it's still too short!!
Perfection is all I ask.......

I found another place that is quite helpful.
Camper Reparadise
2382 S. Redwood Rd.
404-279-2967
Brandon Zinninger
It is not actually on Redwood, Google Map it first, so you can figure out how to find him.
He does restorations of vintage trailers and also builds trailers. He helped me with window seals and is full of knowledge
