We are making the the trek to IRG2.0...

Postby rainjer » Mon Jan 07, 2008 2:52 pm

It's official :applause:

My wife mailed the registration today.

We decide to make this our family vaction for 2008. So the wife, kids & I are going to start planning the rest of the trip. We are going to leave the Sat before IRG & we are going to spend the week following IRG camping our way home. We are going to try to go to Crater Lake, Oregon Caverns, Oregon Dunes, The Sea Lion caves & whatever else we find between here & there.

Way to go Jeremy :applause: . I know you & your family have a great time.
Stop at Boxcar in the Oregon Dunes and watch them race up & down the hill for me. :) Danny

Jeremy, I've so far lost about 8 months of earnings from this d*#~ shoulder and don't know. I need to get back to work and earn some money and then see what traveling plans will be this year. Danny

 My check's been mailed to Dean for IRG2.0. Lee's Mendocino Gathering leading up it looks very enticing too. From Mendo we can do a 2 hour caravan up the coast to Pamplin Grove - that'll be fun in itself. I've never traveled along the Northern California coast so this will be a treat to make an extended vacation of it.

And tupelosue has offered some nice ideas for camp spots near Napa CA. Wonder if I can stretch this out to about 2 weeks of camping and traveling fun?

Gotta make more sawdust. :) 8)

Stop Overs

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Wed Jan 09, 2008 2:30 pm

8) The Hwy down/back to Mendo is a windy (long i sound) one, but so BEAUTIFUL.
The stop off at Richardson's Grove is another fabulous stand of redwoods along the river. As a young girl my family would make a yearly summer pilgrimage there to meet up with my uncle and his family from Palo Alto. We camped next door at a place called French's and I spent so many hours roaming through that gorgeous stand of trees. I would hike over early Sunday morning to attend outdoor services under those giants. A truly magnificent natural cathedral. I believe they do take reservations at this particular site now. Contact us by PM, Dean &/or Joanie, for more camping sites within a 5-6 hour drive of Pamplin Grove. Also, the archives have some recommendations for spots along the way as well.

Yep, you've got the plan Grant. Maybe leave the Albion area late Tuesday morning and drive a few hours and then camp for the night and then drive on in on Wedneday.
