Try this

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/ant/rvs/505297759.html

Or craigslist, los angeles craigslist > antelope valley > recreational vehicles

I found it from the search box on the left side of the LA craigslist by typing in teardrop.

47 teardrop

Postby mary and bob » Tue Dec 11, 2007 4:54 pm

Gage: are you going to buy it. we would if it was here on the east coast. looks about the same condition as the 46 modernistic we recently bought. I did buy a pickup in Arizona a few years ago. $1000 to get it shipped here. Mary & Bob

Mary and Bob

Looks like your modernistic is in much better shape to be honest.
I have a few pics from these people selling it and it sure needs a total teardown.

So you have yourself a better candidate for that..very nice.

47 teardrop

Postby mary and bob » Tue Dec 11, 2007 9:03 pm

thanks Finn, but it's hard to tell from pictures. ours needs a total restoration, we've stripped out the interior and galley area and still working on removing two coats of paint from interior and exterior. there was a lot of old butchered work on ours, it needs some lower metal replaced, but we only paid $500 so it will be worth the effort. plus we promised the seller we would restore it and care for it so we will honor that commitment. mary and bob

The 1947 Cub is now listed on Craig's List- Bakersfield and the price is down to $800. I have been in contact with the seller and I think he would take even less. If it wasn't 600 miles from me I would buy it but will pass for now.

After I made the post the seller made me an offer I could not refuse even at the cost and time of traveling 1200 miles round trip to get it. Besides I need to break in my new truck.

Thanks,
It will be a total restoration so I am expecting the worst case scenario but hoping for some pleasant surprises. Anyway it will hopefully be a rewarding experience. I have always liked that particular profile.

1946 teardrop

Postby mary and bob » Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:57 pm

Jerome,
congrats on your new teardrop. I also have bought a 1946 modernistic that we are restoring, what make is the one you just bought, I went on the craigs list site but its been taken of already, we payed 500 for ours, needs TLC, which were working on. i also just missed looking at a 1961 scad about, not sure what it is but it looked like a teardrop, it was in hemmings magazine and was about 45 minutes away from me but read the magazine to late.
