Happy New Year, ya'll!

Congrats on the laptop Mandy. I've had a laptop for six years now and I love them. I'm hoping to purchase a new one, my third, next year as in 09. My original is still running just fine, it's hubby's. He'll get this one when I get the new one.

Laptops are perfect for teardrops and TTT's imho. They take up little room and run on their own battery. :)

With regard to New Year's did anyone make a resolution with regard to their teardrop or TTT?

My goal is to finish the Inkwell and hopefully be able to purchase a generator that can run the ac.

My resolution is to finish the Turtle that I haven't touched since, um, October. If I could just put Lynn's books down...

Happy New Year to all! It was a relatively quiet one except for the occasional "boom" from the neighborhood kids. I actually stayed awake to watch the ball come down.

Didn't get to camp as planned due to hubby coming down with the flu. Just didn't have the heart to leave him so sick, even though I waited and waited for him to say those magic words, "no honey, go camping, I'll be just fine". He knew better cause all he would have seen was my behind flying out the door. He's doing much better.

No special christmas gifts for the Tear. I did get some rubber roofing to fix my water seepage problem with the galley lid hinge. Now I have to figure out the best way to secure it without it looking like a drunk fixed it.

Oh, totally flipping the channel on this, I have to share something I just read and then re-read to make sure I was reading it correctly. I just bought a new flat iron for my hair and decided to read the instructions (I guess I was really bored) since it came with a numbered dial (1-not so hot, 20-fry). Well, one of the "cautions" was - DO NOT USE WHILE SLEEPING. Ok, last time I checked, I don't think I've ever used a curling iron "while sleeping". But then again I don't know because I WAS SLEEPING! I had to read it over and then show Brian (hubby). He said I should send it in to the newspaper. I mean, really, do you have to warn someone not to use something while sleeping? Sleepy, yes, drowsy, sure, but sleeping :QM :QM :scratchthinking:

Well, I'm REALLY slow. Actually, haven't had much time for reading until lately. Just picked up a couple of your previous ones.

Becca:    I have a daughter.........well she has done a lot of things sleeping. (as a teenager)

About that rubber roofing. You can put it down with some sealant (silicone type or other). Then get some aluminum flat bars and screw them on the outside edge of the hinge. You can also use wood for this. I used alum. "because".

Before trim and clean up.

No problem. My sister takes months to read one of mine. She ends up finding a day she can take off from anything else and reads the entire book.

I just read, for copy editing purposes, an earlier novel of mine. Sure enough I found some errors. Of course, this novel has a huge mistake of my own doing. The character lives in Miami and she went jogging to FSU. For those of you who don't know, FSU is in Tallahasse. Quite a jog, huh. At least with this reprint I'll be able to fix that problem. ;)

Miriam:

Do you put the silicone type sealant all over the part that will be in contact with the hinge? Do you use is just on the sides where it will be drilled or all over? Or, do you use it just under the aluminum flat bars to seal it on each side? Questions, questions...but you guys have the answers! Oh, any your daughter - be sure and tell her not to use that flat iron "while she is sleeping". I got those instructions straight from the China-men's mouth. :)

 Teenagers ;)

Becca, I put silicone sealer all over the hinge screws and edge when I put it down. Then I siliconed the area where the flat bar was to go. Has sealer under the edge, over the edge and beside the edge.

It has sat in several storms and made it's lake but hasn't leaked.

Just wondering

Sorry not a lady,
There has only been one IRG.
From ABQ, it will probably be 2 nights on the road. We took a similar path on the way home.
We went from Pamplin Grove->Reno Reno->Laughlin Laughlin->Wilcox, AZ Wilcox->Austin

Depending on how much you want to drive during the day, you can stop at Laughlin (call a casino, it's cheaper than camping) and buy your gas on the AZ side. We took the senic route along the Eastern face of the Sierras, plus we've never been to Reno. I-5 is definitely faster but it is a BORING drive.

Rocky,
I figured it would take a couple of days to get there and the route map quest gave me looked lame. I wanted to go though Nevada too.
I would even be willing to take three days to get there I once drove to Las Vegas from Albuquerque in 12 hours and it totally wiped me out I wasn't good for anything untill the next day. I never want to do that again.

Here to wishing

When I plan a trip, I usually plan for 500mi days, give or take 100mi, 700mi is the most I like to do in a day. Of course when you have to take the terrain into account. The Wilcox-> Austin leg was around 850mi, we were gonna camp for the night but the park was booked up. I decided to just burn thru the night.
