Battery next to LP?

I've searched and read the threads on batteries. And I've decided that I'd prefer to have the battery on the tongue instead of inside. But, is it dangerous to have it next to an LP tank?

Don't think so. They are both potential sources of explosive gasses, and both need to be protected from ignitions sources, and both need to be vented. Besides, TT manufacturers do it all the time.

IF the are in a tongue box, you need good ventilation to dissipate the gases.... Hydrogen from battery is lighter than air and dissipates upward... Propane is heavier than air and dissipates downward.... Vent accordingly...

If they are not enclosed, don't worry about it....

I'll add my vote to the "it's done all the time" and "vent and you're okay" chorus.

Putting the battery under the propane, with errant propane drifting into the area of electrical connections, seems like a bad plan. Common sense rules.

Having said that, I'm amazed how badly RVs (of most types) are built. Batteries drift around unsecured in their boxes, propane tanks are barely held in place, etc. None of this stuff would pass the most basic technical inspection in the motorsport world, and yet luckily it rarely blows up.

Before I needed the space in the box, I had both in the box, I used a Gelcell, so no gas and sealed it in a separate box so no spark for the propane. Vented the propane down. No problem for two years, then I got a little scared and moved the propane tank out on the tounge using a Campinn tank holder. I feel a little better now.
