Hi from Altadena, CA.
My wife, Jane, and I are so new we are picking up our SoCal Teardrop tomorrow! At my age and lack of equipment, I figured I might never get one built to really enjoy.
I've been browsing the forum for about a year and I'm really impressed with the friendly information-sharing attitudes.
Yesterday we sent in our check for the Redwoods Gathering. Hope to meet you all there.
(The computer thing is pretty new. I'll improve.)

Welcome, Jay, you are well on your way to experience the joys and friendship we all have found while using our teardrop trailers. See you at the IRG, you with your new rig and me with my "old woody". You might consider leaving early and catching the SLO gathering on your way up to the redwoods. I think I will give that a try as well. Enjoy.

Congratulations! If I had know it was going to take me 3 years (and counting!) to build mine, I might have bought one myself.

And welcome to another So. Cal man. I actually grew up down the road a piece from you in Glendora, smog capital of L.A.

See you in the Redwoods!

:) Welcome, Jay and Jane. Congratulations on :applause: your new teardrop. Hope you enjoy it immensely. Dean's IRG 2.0 seems to be the the :relaxing: gold standard for a gathering. I'll enjoy meeting you there.

Roly, perhaps, when you say to catch the SLO Gathering, you're thinking of Lee's Mendocino Gathering starting the weekend before Dean's Redwoods Gathering?

I haven't make plans (though I'm thinking about it) to do another SLO Gathering yet. The Governator's monkey wrenching :x threat to close Montana de Oro State Park, as well as six other state parks in SLO County, for budget reasons needs to be sorted out before any SLO Gathering 2.0 plans can go forward.

Hi Jay and Jane,

Welcome to the forum. Glad you are picking up your trailer. That's what is so great about this forum, you can build or you can buy, but you are still welcome to come in and play with the other kids. :D Hope you both enjoy yourselves here.

See you around.

Welcome to the forum. I bought as well because I did not want to wait on me to finish a teardrop before enjoying the lifestyle. Last year was wonderful in the teardrop and I have several trips planned for this year-see you at the IRG.

Well, anyway, I look forward to meeting Jay at the Mendocino Gathering, if he can make it, and at the IRG as well. Hey Gage, getting old ain't bad, if you consider the alternative. I do stand corrected, I just can't get all of those acronyms straight in my mind, must be a senior affliction. BTW, try as I may, I just can't seem to get registered into the So Cal Tear Jerkers group. Yahoo keeps blocking me. Help!

Roly, only 24 years and 9 months away from that 100th birthday  !

Gotcha  As far as the Yahoo Grp, I'll do some checking and see whats going on. I'll get back to you with a PM later. I do know another way to join the So-Cal Chapter.

Postby jay grandon » Tue Jan 22, 2008 1:30 pm

Wow! What a great welcoming. Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to meeting you. I did actually meet Roly at the 2006 San Diego Gathering. We shot a lot of pictures and your TD is one of our favorites from that weekend.

:) Welcome to J & J!
Why build when you CAN buy? Great short cut...might have to try it myself one of these days. Our theme has been,
"Why build when you can Borrow??"
:?
Look forward to meeting you in person at the IRG 2.0 :R
