Dean...at the risk of starting something...has anyone noticed that it isn't referred to as much as "global warming" as it is "global/ climate change" lately...covers all the bases. Just something I've noticed. Doug

I've about had it with the snow and wind.

I just posted on the ladies only thread. It is in Fortuna also. I came home from church about 1:30 and it was just raining.
There is several inches out there and it doesnt look like it is going to let up.
Dean, Kevin do you remember the last time we had snow? I remember driving to work down I Street but that was a good 15 years ago.

We got a dusting of snow in the last hour or so  . Must be a weak system on the west coast. Danny

Couple of days ago we got snow on the lowest mountains, up the pass going toward Lake Cachuma, & this is Southern Ca. For those who were out early could see snow on all the mountains. By the time I got out all I could see was clouds. as it was getting to rain again.
We need the rain though as last year was a drought. This part of California is known for its weather cycles, some years are drought, some wet and others in-between. Its been that way for a long time & I don't care what anybody else says. :R

Snow Day

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Mon Jan 28, 2008 3:29 pm

 It snowed enough here that my school, Hwy 36 on the way to Pamplin Grove, got cancelled today. Golly, I hope I can find something constructive to do....

You guys don't know what a hard life we live up here on the 55th parallel, level with the southern tip of Alaska. :D

Hey..... doesn't California usually get an earthquake after the heavy rains lubricate those big plates out there? Better put your breakables on the floor now. I guess it's only a theory, but I'll stay here in Oh. At least the ground shakers don't knock your house down.
We get rain, snow, tornadoes, very few forest fires, no mud slides,no hurricanes, some drought, and some cold--but usually when we expect it.
Also if the ocean water does come up we are 600' to 1800' above sea level--safe enough I guess.
I know if we got 80mph winds around here I would get some new stuff in my yard, and some of mine would be gone--kind of like a citywide garage sale--without the money.
All youse guys hunker down and be safe.
