Opinions about Chevy Trailblazers & Jeep Grand Cherokees

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Mark72 » Mon Jan 07, 2008 9:01 pm

Jeff' My 93 GC is a rebuilt wreck I got a heck of a deal on it and it has been bullitproof. As it has gotten older there have been a few issues but nothing that I wouldn't expect from an aging vehicle. The Jeep is full time 4x4 and has the quadra trac option (limited slip on both ends) The wheels have to loose contact with solid ground before it will stop moving. (sitting on top of a 4' snow drift) I grew up a solid chevy fanatic and never knew what "its a jeep thing" meant until owning one. :dead:

We've owned both a '93 and now an '05 GC. Really like(d) both. The only problem I have with the '05 is visibility. The corner posts both up front and in the rear are too wide (thick) for good visibility. You can't see someone standing on the side walk preparing to cross when you're stopped at the intersection. So they start to walk and you start to make a right turn and SURPRISE  , there they are! When backing up, if you can see past the rear seat headrests, you can't see around the corner post. But they're hell for reliable. Love Cheys, but prefer my GC for reliability. But doesn't Chevy now have 100,00 mile powertrain warranty? Your choice. Jim

I realize there is a lot of difference in resale between Jeeps and other Chrysler products, but I recently had LOTS of trouble selling a used Dodge truck without just giving it away. Also read the other day where Chrysler was esentially given to a holding company by Mercedes, and that they were basically broke...selling off assets to get enough cash to stay in business. Having said all that, I would be very reluctant to by any Chrysler product, at least until it's clear what is going to happen with them.

The young people of today's belief that foreign cars are superior to American cars will eventually kill the economy of this country. But, that is just my opinion.

Well, she decided to go with the Jeep. It had all the things she wanted and I got to pick the engine  .......

It's a 2005 with only 17,000 miles, 4.7L V-8, leather, 4X4, etc. Really pretty color, too. I went and got a drop down hitch at Mall Wart, hooked the old camper on and took it for a spin on the highway. Wow, pulled it like it wasn't even back there!!!

Good pick, goin with the Jeep. I had one a while back, and it developed a tranny problem. So I sold it and bought a GMC Jimmy, new. The guy I sold the Jeep to took the equivalant of my new payment and fixed the tranny. Bottom line...the Jeep is still on the road, the Jimmy is in the junk yard. Since then I went back to my High School love....DODGE!!!

I love the red. I just got a Jeep Liberty and have discovered that Jeep does not get good gas mileage. Will be curious to see what you get.
