What's the story behind your forum name? Version 2

Postby caseydog » Tue Jan 29, 2008 10:17 am

Some of you folks have pretty interesting forum names. Some make instant sense, while others obviously have some story behind them that others won't understand without hearing the story.

Just for grins, post up the story behind your choice of a forum name.

I'll start.

In 1989, when I was settled into my very first house (owner, not renter), my mom got me a dog. She was a scrawny, ugly mutt that my mom had named "Fancy."

Well, she was a sweet puppy, even though she looked really goofy, so I kept her. But, the name had to change.

I named here Casey, because it sounded like a good name for a dog. I used to call her Caseydog a lot, too.

She grew up to be a rather good-looking dog, and quite possibly the smartest dog ever. She recognized a large number of words, could open a door with her mouth, and was very well behaved.

She was with me until 2005. Sixteen years.

That's my forum-name story.

My wife and I were driving on interstate 81 in N. PA coming home from visiting my folks in way N. NY. Anyway, we came up behind a class A motorhome with an old (original style) VW bug. The license plate read "RV PUSHR". I have a Toyota, Tacoma that we use to pull the TearDrop and wanted a vanity plate. Therefore it became Toypusher, but we never got the plate!!

PS: I believe that there was a thread about this already a while back!!

My first name is actually Forrest. Back in college, a couple of my friends were Honduran and Peruvian and were asking what my name in Spanish would be. Bosque - the literal translation of forest - didn't sound good. Jokingly, someone suggested Fornesto - a combination of Forrest and names like Ernesto. It stuck.

Jack, Rocky and I were taking jabs at each other on the forum one night, I ended up talking smack like Snoop Doggie, and fershizzle....I got my name, Jack had been threatening to change it, I pushed just a little bit more and voila, he did...so I had to take an avatar pic to go with it. Doug

Postby Ivar the Red » Tue Jan 29, 2008 1:15 pm

I chose Ivar the Red because my Great-Great Grandfather, from Norway, was named Ivar. If woodworking passes through the genes, that's where I got my skills, be that what they may. I still use a hand carved dresser that he made and brought with him from Norway. It's small but very detailed, the pulls are carved leaves,I'll post a pic of it sometime. Then a quick look at my hair, and you'll see where "the Red" comes from.

What she said.

Well, not her name, I mean, it would be pretty creepy if I used her name as my screen name.

Mine is 5/9ths of my name. I threw in some math to impress you, but now I am totally confused. Back to my sandwich . . .
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

I've had the same name for about 8 years. Needed a name for something one night. And since I was usually on the PC late at night ... nite.. times... I just used that as a name, pretty creative huh. Seems it stuck because no matter where I go and register it is rarely ever taken and if you google it you will literally get pages of hits and mostly pertaining to me.
