battery charger selection

Im sure that you have all looked into this, and ive probably read it here, but im having trouble keeping everything straight.

What is a minimum charger needed to charge a deep cycle battery? I was hoping to buy a Battery Tender Plus, but it only puts out 1.25 amps. Is that enough? Will that take a really long time to charge, and will it affect the health of my battery?

The other option i was looking at is a ProMariner Pro Sport which puts out 6 amps.
