Hi ladies (and you gents who sneak peeks at this thread)!

This is what we've been up to lately - an awful lot of snow removal! A storm last night dropped 15" on us. That's on the heels of one last Monday that left 10". We've had 131" this season so far, and still have a couple good months of snow season to go! The canvas cover I made for my trailer has been getting quite the workout, and performing admirably (if I must say so myself) 8)

Image

So you're probably wondering, "How can they stand to live there?" Because you get beautiful days like this! We had a fantastic snowshoeing day last weekend. Gotta put all that snow to good use!

How is everyone else enjoying their winter?

Holy Molie Jeanette! Thats a whole lota snow. We had dusting here in Albuq. that froze and turned the roads into a skating rink. :? I couldn't deal with all that snow. I would just curl up into a ball in front of a fire place and hybrenate untill spring. The pics are beautiful. Stay warm and take care.

;) Thank you for asking. I am here FINALLY! Had to go do night shift with my mom. She got rowdy and broke her femur at the hip. Going to stay home a day or two then go back. Besides the hospital food is beyond nasty.

So how is everyone? Hope things are better everywhere else. :worship:  ;)

Aunti M:

Sorry to hear about your mom. I hope everything heals well. My mom turned 80 on Oct. 13th and just quit doing her own grass cutting this past year (acre). My cousin now does it for her. She is in excellent health (Thank God) and not on any type of medication. I am grateful for that.

I wanted to share something very sad with all of you. My neighbor, who was also my friend, passed away this morning...she was 50 and died of cancer. Yoli has 4 kids...2 daughters still in high school. Her first granchild was born 3 weeks ago. This was a beautiful person inside and out...never smoked a day in her life, just a joy to be around and the best neighbors you could ever wish for. She got breast cancer 6 years ago, fought it, thought she was ok, then it went to her lungs, liver and brain. She just stopped chemo a month ago because it just wasn't working anymore. I visited her Tuesday and we said our goodbye's in our own way - we hugged, I told her I loved her and she patted me on the back as though to say "it's ok". I just don't understand life sometimes. It's just not fair...

Miriam: So sorry to hear about you mother. I agree hospital food is pretty nasty. I know how it is to do the night shift at the hospital, being that I am the youngest I tended to be the one who was volenteered for that shift when my Dad and Aunt were in the hospital. Your lucky if you could get an hours worth of sleep with all the things they have to do to the patients. :? Take care Aunti "M" and God bless you for taking care of you mother.

Rebecca: My heart go's out to you. It's sad and and lonley losing some one you love to cancer. I lost my Grandmother and then my dear Aunt with-in 5 months of each other due to Cancer. Please know that you are in my prayers tonight.

Take care

Becca, losing a friend that way is really hard. My heart goes out to you. Mom just turned 80 and had recovered from a broken rib falling down stairs because she was going fast and didn't turn the light on.

She is very healthy and the Dr. expects her to recover in 4 to 6 weeks. The heart Dr. told her to not bother with a DNR because she was too healthy and he would not honor it. Suggested she waste her time on something else. She had still worked part time and had dreams of getting up to go to work the first 3 nights. Gotta work on that.

Her generation certainly is tough.

Jeanette- I love seeing those pics. You're an inspiration. I just look out my window and wait for the white sh#& to go away.

Nothing new for the turtle for my birthday...I'm buying a new window for my bedroom instead. :( My youngest, Jackie, made me brownies from scratch, though. They were great.

Yesterday, she asked me if I wanted to be a farmer. Why? Because I've got a mighty good crop of chins growing. I'm refusing to feed her this month. Yesterday was a great day; spotted my first grey hair, too. This on the eve of my second date (that-I'm-not-sure-if-it-IS-a-date) in 15 years.

Mary K-I haven't been on the board much lately. Did you carve that? I'm doing a bit of woodcarving, too, but nothing that good.

Hi all,

Miriam, Becca sorry to hear what you've been going through. You'll have my prayers.

On another note, I camped in the Inkwell...correction...I slept in the Inkwell for my birthday this past week and found out that we need to insulate the floor. Yupper, that floor is cold in the morning on the bare toes in the morning.

Soooo, yesterday we put...correction...Paul put the insulation on under the floor boards. We also insulated the wheel wells and boarded over them. We still need to paint the panels but I imagine we'll see a big improvement.

I was able to put some trim on the counter tops yesterday. I also sanded the top of the stairs and added another coat of stain and some poly. I didn't sand between the coats of poly because I wanted to keep the roughness to help scrape the bottoms of our shoes before we enter the trailer.

We also finished the exterior paint, the white area, yesterday.

We're camping next week for ten days so we're trying to get a bunch of little touches done. Note I said trying.
