New SIMPLE for sale in PA 'Lil' Barn

Postby dariclen » Sat Dec 22, 2007 12:35 pm

Hi there:
I am selling a new construction on a 1985 4x8 trailer (HOMEMADE). It is a SIMPLE that looks like a barn! :) Has a ANDERSON window from the 50's as the door (looks like a french door) and red T-111 as the siding. It has an electrical hookup for 120V by a cord connected permanently to the back. 2 plugs, 1 inside, 1 in the galley. Most interior items (Lights and fan) are run off batteries. VERY ORIGINAL! It is 95% done, just needs trim, which I will finish before you pick up. PIX are available to individuals who are interested in purchasing, just e-mail me at falcoflyer@yahoo. com. Price is 2700.00. Wated to give you guys a chance before it goes up on ebay early Jan.

Pics would go a long way towards generating interest in the first place. We're pretty visual around here.
And it's really a bad idea to post your email address in a forum, if you must then spell it out with words, ie. john (at) tears (dot) com

Talk about your simple teardrop (I guess that's what he's calling it). All I can say is Good Luck. I do think $2800 is a little steep. Oops, I'm sorry, I read in teardrop.

I'm curious as to how the water runs off of the roof?

Doesn't look to me that it runs any where. Just sits there and seeps in. But what the hey, he only wants $2800 (on ebay). If I was him, I'd take the wheels off and offer it as a little girls play house or a little boys club house.

And take off the side trim and put gutters on it? :)

I'm interested -- is anybody else?

Postby gyroguy » Thu Jan 10, 2008 9:27 pm

So far, looks like most of the people who have built teardrops/tiny trailers did not go the simple, cheap route.

There have been several topics on the Forum about building a cheapo, simple trailer. But when somebody does it, like Daric did, there doesn't seem to be a lot of positive interest in his accomplishment.

It didn't sell on eBay for $2600. It doesn't have hand-turned cabinet knobs. There's no digital satellite TV. But if you are looking for a design you could put together quickly and cheaply -- he did it!

Isn't anybody but me interested in how he did it? How long it took to build? How much it cost to build?

I don't know what qualifies as simple but I think 6 months and less than $850.00 is cheap .
Anybody wants Chubby for $2800.00 he's got a new home but I ain't advertising.

He's asking $1600 now...

That might almost be possible for me but based on y'all's comments I doubt it's worth it.

Looks go a long way when selling a teardrop, and I'd rather have Gage's teardrop for $2800 than Daric's at any price...

Mike...

Well, I gotta go with Gage on this one. did I just say that out loud?

First, the guy has 2 posts on the forum, and offers us an advanced chance on what looks like a crate with wheels -- for $2,700. I'm guessing he joined the forum just to sell his "teardrop."

It looks bad, and I can't imagine that roof being any good for rain.

Sorry, but that thing just isn't worth much.

And, I don't feel like I've been done any favor with the advanced offer to be ripped off by a complete stranger.

I think I'd be a little concerned about the tongue "stretch" job that was done. See pic in Gages post. Looks like a long tongue for a HF frame, especially if he didn't replace the existing materials. Doug
