Lady Tear Droppers, drop in and say "Hello"!

This is where the gals can have their very own discussions...

Hi Ladies! (waving)

My name is Tracey and I posted in the Newcomers section and Miriam told me to drop in here... I received a sort of mixed greeting in that section and I'm not sure if it's because I mentioned living a God directed life? or because I'm a woman planning on doing a total reno on a ttt myself? (I do have significant construction experience) or because I'm allowing a needy family to take over my house for a few months? or if the idea of spending the entire summer in my ttt is weird? or... I dunno...

But I thought I'd try here before returning to lurker status...

Anyway, I am receiving a gift of a really old, solid but in need of significant repairs, tiny travel trailer. It is built on the tear concept but not really a tear shape. Definitely tear height (can't stand up inside) with storage shelves in the 'back' away from the tongue. Better description in the newcomers section. Expecting it to be delivered (I don't own a tow vehicle) sometime this week... will post pictures when it gets here.

Nice to meet you all!

Tracey in VA <-- not crazy, really, just committed to a cause... (sigh)

Hi Tracey:

Welcome Aboard! Mandy is right...normally everyone on this forum is very welcoming and kind. We don't judge your beliefs or causes...we do try to help you tremendously with your building, refurbishing, decorating, etc. of your tiny trailer. We are all full of ideas (whether you want them or not  ).

Please do take pics from beginning, middle, middle, middle and finally end. It seems like a never ending project and then when it does end, we start all over with another one. This forum is a lot of fun and believe me, the folks here are super.

If you have any questions, there are a lot of ladies who are great builders on this site. The guys are always peeking in and they are wonderful with helpful answers.

Again, Welcome!

Welcome Tracey...(waving back!)

Glad you posted here...it's hard to keep up on all the posts, but I do read this thread everyday, even tho I don't post too much.

Please keep us updated on what you are doing, post lots of pictures (per Aunti M), and we'll try to answer any questions we can.

Welcome aboard Tracey. I happen to be from Virginia myself, but am now a Washingtonian. I miss those Shenandoah Mountains in Fall.

We are all super-friendly here, so stick around. Also, be sure to post some pics of your renovation. We love looking at everyone's photographs. It gives us a chance to "steal" ideas.

Again, welcome aboard!

Amy:

I'm in awe of all of your tools. Do you build a lot of things? Your garage/shop is cool. I love tools but I don't have a lot of the big guys, just lots and lots of little things. Your lumber corner is a good idea too. Pretty cool Miss Amy.

Thanks Rebecca. I have been collecting those tools since the early 90s. I haven't built a ton of stuff with my tools, but I have done a LOT of home remodeling. My tools have been indispensable for that! I did build a little desk and a humidor (originally built for my partners father, but we ended up keeping it). I am planning to build some furniture for outside once I get the trailer out of the space. I can barely move around in there right now! I am also going to use the tools to build my own cameras and get my darkroom finished. Got to get the trailer done first. :)

A belated welcome to ya, Tracey. You just do what you want to do, and don't worry a bit about what anyone else thinks. Keep in mind, though, I think there's some genuine concern for you out there. Try not to be too hard on 'em. I never could fault someone for trying to help, no matter how widely my view differed from theirs. Personally, I think what you're doing sounds kinda fun. I've never been even close to that extreme, but I just got through a 6 month stint of living in a closet because I gave up my bedroom for a foreign exchange student.

Cool ticker Mandy!
