Nice Bird..

Ive always wanted to get a Cockatoo..

Parrots are so unique and loving..

And funny at times.. but can be very noisy.. :D :D

Ohhh did you mention teardrops? :D

He is a Maxmillion Pionous...he will be 1 year old in May.
He belonged to our neighbors. Max didn't much like the new puppy they got (don't know how they got away with that one! Nobody else here is allowed to have a dog). Well, since Max didn't much care for his new companion, he has joined our family.
He whistles every once in a while, and whines like a puppy when we leave the room (wonder where he learned that???). I read that the pionous is not known to be a very talkative bird, but I think he will learn to talk some. He seems to be pretty vocal.
He also recognizes his name and thankfully understands the word "NO"

When did you get promoted to captain?

Ahh ok I could tell it was a young bird or should I say Max looks young..
but can live to be older than some folks.. ;)

I just wasnt sure of the breed.. now I know..regardless of the breed they
are very intelligent. ;) But I still want to see it doing some power toolin..

This Capn thing originated from me being an old sailor... and it has something to do with this thread also.. :D :D

But in this thread is the name I got.. 8) 8)

I dont use it on the other threads, unless my name is changed by one of the Moderators..
so far so good.. It hasnt happened..

Nice to have you and Max here.. brings some spunk to the thread.. ;)

Well, Hmmm no Pirate ship... I remember our ship had a stolaway cat once till our Captain told the crew that it must be released at next port, besides I smell dat cat in some sailors quarters..

We kept him in the Crew Lounge or Game room..for weeks..

As some say, A Parrot can be good luck onboard ship, cant figure it out though as to how but so the legends say.

They took him in and had him clipped up professionally. Having been a professional dog groomer, I can't imagine it would be too much different than clipping a pup's nails.....? When I kept iguanas, I used to clip their nails myself too. I think I will take Max to the pros until he gets a little more used to being handled alot more.
He was a bit on the bitey side when we brought him home. He only liked my boyfriend, but it only took a day till he got used to me. Now its just my daughter he hasn't warmed up to very much. He's getting better, but she needs to have more patience with him.
I was bit by a golden retreiver once, which required stitches and X-rays and all sorts of good stuff....so I know what animal bites are like. I'm not looking to do that again!

Good for you!!!
It's been 2 years and 9 months for me. I smoked a pack and a half a day, and quit cold turkey....and I managed not to even kill anyone!

Keep up the good work!!!!

That's great. I quit 28 years ago!! It was a bit tough, but well worth it. I just can't imagine the money that someone saves today when they quit!!! When I quit, a carton (at the commisary on base) was only about $3.00 and they are how much now??? :o

Was there the irritation with it? Withdrawal symptoms?

Ohh yes I smoke and reason I ask..here they prescribe the nicorette gum and patches but sincerely I dont believe in them.. I think its between the ears..

I dont smoke in the house or our car and no Im not allowed to smoke in the tear either..

Wife dont smoke and she hates it when I do.. so Im no better..

In preaching about smoking..

So in that respect I admire you for the achievement.. maybe I should join you as well..

Here one pack of Marlboro Light costs 4.40 Euro which is equivalent to
4.40 EUR = 6.38727 USD Euro United States Dollars
1 EUR = 1.45165 USD 1 USD = 0.688870 EUR
