My 3-month drinking binge--almost over?

Postby Ira » Tue Feb 12, 2008 11:00 am

I have an interview Friday, at of all places--The Florida Department of Transportation--as a Technical Writer, whatever the hell that is. All I know is that it pays 3 grand more than my last job did after 6 years of incredible service.

What's civil service work like if I get it? Am I supposed to pick my nose and be nasty to everyone?

I might fit right in.

-------------------------------------------------------------

P.S. The new issue of my mag is going to press next week, and I'm using the photo that you Calfornia nuts sent me as a 2-page spread, with a little story. I need your addresses again to send you a bunch of copies.

And if you forgot how to count, there are 4 of you in that shot.
Here we go again!

Hope the job works out for you Ira. You might be too smart for a tech writer though. Oh well good money and probably good insurance. Sorry about the binge. Wonder if you can get online there. You know we look forward to the stories---right :lady: There have got to be some really great ones.

This issue is the one that's going to put me in jail, I swear. Most of you will never even talk to me again.

As you know, I sure didn't do the last one as a commercial enterprise. This time, I'm going with a smaller format/smaller page size, but it's gonna be a lot more pages--100 plus. More like a Reader's Digest size--and I'm gonna be charging for it. I have to to make a few bucks on this, especially since my unemployment.

As you remember, last time, I sent out copies to the folks here for free, and I absorbed the postage myself. But no way I can do that again.

So if anyone wants it, stick a 5 dollar bill or money order in an envelope (dealing with checks is gonna be a pain in the ass for me), and that will cover the magazine and postage. Just PM me on where to send.

You know I'n not the type to be spamming stuff on here, right? It's just that I know some of you would like to get a copy, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get it to you.

I was gonna make the total cost $4.97, but it's hard to put change in a #10 envelope.

Unfortunately, I haven't figured out costs for Canadians and Yurps yet.
Here we go again!

Do you have a paypal account set up? If not you might want to consider that and tack on $.50 or so to cover their fees. Quick and easy and the shipping address will be there for you too.

I have no problem paying for it, hell I'd a payed for the last one!

Just make sure and read the fine print. If you have over so many (can't remember how many) transactions, then they start charging you!! It's a great system, though. Just that you may have to add a bit if you use it alot.

I don't think it is spam if a regular member -- one who owns a Teardrop, and participates regularly in discussions -- posts up about something he's selling.

If someone joins the forum and starts selling on post number three, then we have a spammer.

That's my view, anyway.

Good Luck with the interview, and civil service work, I'm not sure about your part of the country, but out here, there's more politics,b.s,and a general pain in the a@@, than I have ever seen. but it has good benefits. You will have plenty of ammunition for your "story Tellin'" 8)
