I'm hoping he gets to write a DOT manual for women called, "How to Hang Up the Phone and Drive."

Ira do I want to know what story you made up?
PS good luck with the job interview.
angib wrote:International perspective (on phones and driving, not on Ira's potential employment (for which good luck Ira)): using a hand-held mobile/cell phone while driving is illegal in all Yurpeen countries, but all allow the use of a hands-free car phone.
The evidence here is that driving while using a phone (hand-held or hands-free) takes about the same attention away from driving as being drunk does - indeed the danger from phone use is just like being drunk, in that it reduces the driver's ability to notice their own mistakes. So our laws banning hand-helds are pointless, as they don't deal with the real problem.
In a recent Yurpeen poll, in two countries, France and Spain, a majority of drivers said that any phone use while driving should be banned.
My experience is that most drivers think that they are safe when using a phone, as they take great care, but that it's other drivers that aren't safe using a phone - which is exactly what a lot of drivers used to say about themselves driving after a drink or two.....

Just to continue this thread jack, I would love to see a ban on phone use while driving -- for all people. It really is too distracting, even with a hands-free phone.
My comment about women and cell phones is related to a very non-scientific observation of mine, that an unusually high percentage of cell phone users in cars are women.
On-topic, any news on the job, Ira?
