I'm actually more of a hiker these days.

In fact, I'm trying to round up some folks for a long distance hike next summer.

Anyone up for a 72 mile walk in the woods?

where are you going?

Long distance for the likes of me...and trust me, I'm having a hard enough time getting people to actually agree to this.....
Anyway, I want to do the NJ section of the AT.

Oh I have always wanted to do the AT. Wanted to start at the South end and go North till I got cold. Do I need to tell you to get lots of pictures.

That's already in my plans.

I'm gonna try doing sections, Jersey seems do-able. I figure it will take a week to 10 days at the most.

Have you ever read the book, "A Walk in the Woods"
I highly recommend it.
In fact I bought it for my brother-in-law (does that count if I'm not really married?) for Christmas, and after he read it, I think I've got him talked into the trip.

when you get to our end of it..let me know.. Perhaps meeting up to hike some of it with you could work.

Only the NJ section, from the PA border to NY. I think that's enough to start with. We'll see how that goes, then maybe I'll set my sights higher!

I know this hike you were planning just New Jersey.. but weren't you talking about doing other sections as some point.. or is my psychic radar on the fritz again?

I've been to your NJ before, Fort Dix in the Army, and Newark more times than I care to remember when driving the aformentioned big rig. I sure am glad to know that there is more to your home state then those two holes. I've seen the AT on Discovery or Travel Channel or something, that looks like fun. But I'm like Scott, I think you'd find me passed out within 5 or 10 miles.

Been there, done that. Did my time at Fort Dix also, and all these years later you could never look at me and tell

But I'm happy

I have been to New Jersey.. a few times... but I was stationed south of there.. a different branch of the service. People now have a hard time believing I served. USMC Semper Fi

time to head out and plow.. man this last storm left a mess... snow rain and ice.. the roads are a mess.. bumpy ice all over.. flooding in other places.. warm and sunny today but c-c-c-cold coming this weekend.
