Hi from NJ

Postby MrgrumpyNJ » Thu Feb 14, 2008 12:19 am

Well i've been lurking around here long enough, I saw my first teardrop last summer at Parvin State Park and was hooked on them right then and there. My friend Dave picked up a 40's teardop from Todd in the Liberty Bell chapter and I will be giving him a hand in restoring it. After that I will be building my own in the same style as his with a few changes to my taste. I have a 69 Fleetwing 12' Wren that I use now and can not wait to get started on my own Teardrop. I already picked up Steves build CD (great stuff by the way) and got some great ideas from it. I will be posting pics of the restore as well as the one I will build for myself. Right now here are afew picks of my Fleetwing and of the Tear we are going to restore.

Welcome Don!

So...what exit?

Sorry...I think that's mandatory when you meet a fellow Jersian.

I was born in Southern NJ, and now live in Texas. Texas is more polluted. Houston makes Newark look clean.

Swissarmygirl - exit 4 if coming south on turnpike or exit 3 if going north 8)

Nitetimes - funny you should mention that. The company I work for is next to a landfill

Hey Uncle Mike, I was looking at your photos, and your galley hinge looks almost exactly like mine. Have you ever had any problems with water? I want to replace as little as possible on the tear, and the addition of a hurricane hinge would definately be a major noticable change. By the way, I'm Dave, the owner of the 41 tear above, and I've known Don for longer than I care to think about. (Kinda reminds me of how old I'm getting.) That's it for now, Thanks, Peace, Dave.
