Dimmer switch?

Postby Lou Park » Mon Feb 25, 2008 9:33 am

Is there a dimmer switch for d/c power?
I want to be able to slow down the speed
of a fan or two and also considering dimming
led lights. Is it possible?

Works for the LED's I am not sure on the fan motors. I think it depends on how they are wound.

I as able to locate a great speed control switch that I installed to control two 12V computer fans for a mere $5 bucks plus $5 shipping on E-bay :D . The product is called "FAN MATE 2" and works like a charm. :) It's about the size of a butane lighter! Comes with a LOOOOONG 4 wire wiring harness that attaches anywhere with double sticky tape (supplied). I wired it in-line with a small switch. I highly recommend it. If you're talking about a fan like a a freestanding or overhead fan, I'm not sure if this controller would be designed for that much ampherage, but they have a web site and a tech phone number that can answer that question. Check it out! Good luck, Jim

:duh: All cars have a dimmer switch on the dash lights. They plug in. Wonder if that will work.
