kicking butt at the livestock show

kicking butt at the livestock show

Postby kajamelu4 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 12:03 pm

Doing a little braggin'! Our FFA and 4-H livestock show teams did really well at the Seminole County Junior Livestock Show this weekend! Out of 8 total catagories, we took home ALL of the Grand prizes! And 4 out of 8 of the Reserve Grands! And 6 of 12 of the showmanship awards!!

There are 8 different teams in our county, and this is the first time ever that one team has won all of the Grands! We are all very proud of them. The kids work really hard all year getting ready for show season.

And on a personal note, my son Lucas brought home 1 Grand, 2 Reserve Grand, 3 Breed Champion trophies, and 1 Jacket. And 5 ribbons for 1st or 2nd place. :applause:

On a different level however, there have been some sour grapes. One kid actually told Lucas that he (Lucas) ought to withdraw from next Saturday's show, so he (the other kid) could win because he's a senior in school. Didn't know quite what to say to that. How about ....... NO! That's the point of competing, isn't it?

Karol. pass along my congratulations to all the kids...ALL kids could and can benenfit greatly from such programs and is is heartning to see you and other parents support them(the kids and the programs)....

...my Mother is a licensed master gardner with 2 green thumbs all the way to her shoulders and regularly sweeps the various categories at garden shows and is frequestly asked the same as your son...she smiles sweetly and tells 'em, she would be happy to offer any help and suggestions needed to beat her out....oh well some folks are neve happy...

Image Wow, Karol, that is great. Ditto to MJ's mom. Your son did the work and should get the rewards. Dropping out is not good sportsmanship and neither is asking.

Kudo's to the kids.

This is what we get for letting them teach the kids that there are no losers. Of course there are, it's whoever didn't win! I knew when they started that nonsense in the kids sports what would come of it. Just like they like to change the grading curves so everybody passes the test, not a good thing!!

Congratulations to Lucus and all of the other kids. Also to your Mother MJ. Just ignore the sour grapes. Winning does not just happen, it is the result of hard work and commitment. Keep up the good work.  Ed & Ruby

Carol, I think that is great!!!!!Those kids really work hard for what they get and deserve recognition. Tell Lucas we are proud of him.

MJ, I think it is great what your Mother does. I imagine you are very proud of her as we all would be.

I feel the same way when all of you do so well on the TD's. You all have something to really be proud of.

Everyone, keep up the good work!

Karol, that's awsome. Tell Lucas that his friends from Beavers Bend are proud of him....
CONGRATULATIONS to the entire team and all of the parents behind the team.

PS Also tell Lucas that we will miss him at Beavers Bend this year.

You know we will miss you too Karol. We know Lucas really likes going to the Beavers Bend gathering.

Hope to see you somewhere in 2008.
