What's with the photo?

I posted a photo last month of my Benroy at the J. Marshall monument, and it's now got 11,500 views and counting. (Are there were that many people on the board?)
I'm curious why this photo is so popular because I almost didn't post it due to it turning out so gloomy and dark, even after futz'n with the light, color, and contrast levels.
What's the word out there, why all the views?
