Now I am getting depressed!!!!

Postby Bodyman » Mon Mar 03, 2008 11:00 am

This winter has been nasty in NE Iowa. Record snowfall, sub-zero temps, and lots of freezing rain when it does warm up. Unlike many I have managed to keep a good attitude about it until now. Nothing I can do about it anyway.
Yesterday we had mid-forty temps with rain, lots of melting, so I went to check my teardrop. I need to get it out sometime before the end of the month for my early spring southern trip and Bever's Bend.
Well, the snowdrift in front of the building wouldn't be too bad, but the bottoms of the sliding doors are encased in 3" of ice. Oh well, I have a few weeks left and warm weather is coming. Right?
This morning I got up to single digit temps and four inches of blowing snow :x with below zero temps forecast by the end of the week.
Will it ever end?

That sounds brutal. At 11 AM weather.com says it's 67. It's nice and sunny. 71 is forecast to be the days high temp. Feels more like spring than winter here in SLO, CA. A good day for making sawdust outside. 8)

Shorts and tank tops is the dress code for today. Been that way for a week now and looks to be that way for at least another week. So if your getting tired of the weather in Iowa, may I recommend you move to Florida.

It's just been a long winter. Have plowed my lot 20 times since 12-1 At least I haven't run out of space to pile snow. Others have had to hire big snowblowers or have snow trucked away.

Bodyman,
I am with ya friend this has been a tough winter. The snow pack going into March has been the deepest I have seen in years. I had a four foot wide 'river' running through the side yard Sunday and this morning but this evening it froze as it got cold again.

But it will make the sun and green this spring all that much sweeter! There is nothing quite so good as watching the brushstrokes of colors appear after a long season of white and gray.

I think it is your turn to call the campground this year, I called it last year. Remember Helga?

Hi Randy, aren't these California folks making you feel better?

Hope everything thaws in time for you to make it to Beavers Bend.

Don't mean to rub it in but we had temps in the 70's yesterday and now it's 45. AC one day and fireplace next day..
That's Texas for ya.

See ya soon

Thanks for all the "encouragement" from the warm weather states. I really don't mind the Iowa winters it's just been a long one this year with no end in sight.

It looks like things are finally decided with my wife's family farm. I will be spending a lot of time re-establishing my campground. Once I get it squared away any and all are welcome.
Yes, we will definately get together again this summer. The small trout stream park that we drove through may not be open next summer. It got wiped out in a flash flood last fall. Too bad that is one of my favorites.
By the way, The wine worked. :)

Linda
I should be at Beaver's Bend even if I can't get my teardrop out. I have an extra stashed in my mother's garage. It is just hard to wait with six foot snow drifts everywhere.

I hear that last year there were more earth quakes way east of California than there was in California. Just goes to show, you still don't know what your talking about half the time. But by all means, you enjoy your cold winters, ice storms, tornados and what ever else comes along.

Randy I'm up for a working weekend if you have some stuff that needs a couple extra hands at your campground

So if the wine worked (actually it was mead) does this mean we can call you grandpa? :applause:

Let me know
