GAS...in your area again!!!

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Arne » Wed Mar 19, 2008 9:13 am

I heard about the compressed air car a few months back. I don't know the efficiency of it, but my immediate reaction was I liked the idea of tanks of compressed air vs. heavy lead batteries (and all the crap it takes to produce those batteries and also lug them around).

The air tanks are designed with a weak spot, so in the event of rupture in an accident, the air blast would be directed away from the passengers..

Oh Miriam: I wish gas here was 3.04. It's at 3.15 a gallon here in Albuquerque and the news said that it might get as high as 4.00 a gallon this Summer.

Looks like it's gona get worse than better.

Ok, so here is the question. I bought a tank of gas at walmart this morning for $3.25 a gallon, 30 minutes later it went down to $3.21 a gallon. If I buy a product in thier store and it goes on sale for a lower price within 2 weeks they have to give me the difference (if I ask for it) either in cash or store credit. Since the price of gas went down can I ask for the difference?

Gas is just gonna keep going up...
I say by all the beef you can afford and freeze it.
Because of increased ethynol production, corn prices are going up...
Just a matter of time before beef prices skyrocket.

4.5 liters is per Imperial gallon. A US gallon is 3.78 liters. So you are paying more like 4.12 a gallon, still higher.

An American said 'Imperial'! (snigger, snigger)

It's $7.85/gallon here in the evil empire.

Hmmm... Seems the Brits devised this Imperial measure

Imperial units or the Imperial system is a collection of units, first defined in the British Weights and Measures Act of 1824, later refined (until 1959) and reduced. The units were introduced in the United Kingdom and its colonies, including Commonwealth countries (most have since become officially metric, but continue to use both Metric and Imperial), but excluding the then already independent United States. Systems of imperial units are sometimes referred to as foot-pound-second, after the base units of length, mass and time

All this begs a more important question...
Is a Pint in a British Pub in Imperial units?

gas prices

Postby Oregonian » Mon Mar 24, 2008 8:15 pm

It is way beyond my comprehension, but it seems that most people are outraged with the price of all fuels, but they just keep on buying and buying. What good is that. I f they can remember in 1973 & 1974, alot of the trucks across the country, the heart of this countries goods, shut down for about four days, and what happened, the price of fuel came way down like almost over night, but to get people to not buy any fuel, is like stopping the Mississippi river from flowing. I am riding my newly aquired bicycle and getting lots of exersice.
I hope that I am not talking through my hat. If anyone thinks that I am wrong, please let it be known.

$2.94 here today. :? The price goes up every where but here. I am thinking they got caught gouging more than once.

I remember the 70's strikes. I also remember local food warehouses which we don't have anymore. With the oil companies making billions in profits, not to mention the speculators, and buying food ahead, out of reach of some people, what we really don't need is a truck strike. It will only divert attention from the real problem and that is absolute greed.

Dare we suggest the oil execs take a pass on this years bonuses.
