Beach camping for July

Postby Cindy » Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:54 am

Ok, it is getting close to summer and that means my birthday.
I want to go to the beach for my birthday. :P

Does anyone know a good place to camp in or around Galveston?
Dave and I have camped at Galveston S.P. and there are still 80+ spaces there.

Is there some other place that would be good?

We could camp July 11-13th. 8) How about it?

Yes, if I have to, I will host.

Hey, maybe the Bluebonnet 2.0 will be ready by then!!!

I will help with the hosting.

Matagorda Bay RV Park

Postby Cindy » Thu Mar 20, 2008 10:38 am

It is on for July 11-13th
Matagorda Bay RV Park looked so good that I called the park manager. He said "no problem with getting us all together."
Here is the RV Park web page: http://www.matagordabayrv.com/
Camping is $25 a night with no entrance fees.
Up to 8 people per site and everything is brand new.
They had a Casita gathering in December with 20 trailers - lets beat that one!

Everybody, call the Texas Parks to make reservations for July 11-13. (512/389-8900)
Let them know you are booking a stay in LCRA park Matagorda Bay. That is Lower Colorado River Authority.

Sonetpro and Cindy will host.
Lets have a Tropical Island theme for the gathering.
We can have a luau instead of a potluck and I'll even wear a grass skirt. How about it Linda and Ed - you already have the decorations!

Who will join us?

Jake and I are in! Just booked.

Texas Sunny Beaches Gathering. I love it.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

I'll probably be bring 2. I should have the kayak I am building finished by that time. Doubt I'll be brave enough to take that one in the surf, but the plastic one should see some Gulf time.

kayaked? Is that a word?

Postby Cindy » Thu Mar 20, 2008 4:35 pm

The guy said the river is on the other side of the park to swim or fish. I have never kayaked. Might be nice to try.

Cindi Sounds great ! I will try to make the campground at another time.

I wish I could attend but that is my swap week that I work seven days for 12 and 13 hours each day of that week.

92 hour work week!  :?

It could be worse and be a 184 hour work week with 24 hours off to start another week. ;)

The following week I will have Thursday and friday off before I have to be at work Saturday night at midnight.

Just Google Mapped this place... wow... Very secluded! Looks like the park is right at the "B" on Beach Front Dr! Nice find! Yeah this is gonna happen!

This is another one of those trips I'll have to see if I can fit into my cyclical work schedule. More later.
