pets and traveling

Hey guys,
We've recently picked up a new camping buddy, a half mini snauzer, half mini dashound. I was thinking of building her own little space into the tear, and I started thinking "what would the people on the forum do?" The thoughts I'm going back and forth with are things like, outside access, could the dog travel down the road there, and last but not least, cleanablity. Any thoughts?

I don't have a dog, but lots of folks here do and have made special spaces for them. It if definitely doable, I think you just have to decide how big and where (outside access, etc) and go for it. I would not recommend that you let your dog ride in tear when going down the road.

Someone in Minden made a pop-out dog bed out of canvas , like a tent trailer has. They just put in in one of the doors while they were set up.
My computer crashed or I would have had one of those pics, I'm sure someone out there has a picture of it.
There is also the side tent option.

Gidget looks like Rocket J Squirrel, or Rocky fer short.---Hell of a dog, too good for one family. He'd adopt us for three or four days a week and then went down the road about two miles to his 'other' adopted family. That is after stopping off at a liquor store to mooch candy bars from the owner.

When he was about four or five his 'other' adopted family moved to St. Louis--they were kind enough to ask us to be Sparky's (their name for Rocky) full time adopted family. He's still mooched candy bars.

Chocolate didn't seem to hurt him--he lived to see 126 (in dog years).

Penny owns the back of the truck. Rides there, sleeps there. When the wife's not along Penny's in the Tear.

Love's to stick her head out the window and enjoy the wind. Therefore the Doggles. She normally attracts a slew of Paparazzi. 'Course that just "tickles" me good

Who are you kidding after about 4 road trips she will be in your lap helping you drive. My Scottie has now mastered the turn signal the horn and the windshield wipers. The radio is still up to me.

Rocky and Rosey have a fold up mesh dog house that we put next to the tear but most likely they are in the tear with us. They ride in the car with us. I put the suitcases on the back seat so they can sit high and look out.
In the van they rode in the back wherever they wanted. Should be the same way in the new tow vehicle (Jeep). They are happy as long as they are with us.

My dog Baron goes with me everywhere I go (except work). When I'm done with my tear he will pick his part of it and I will get whatever is left over. Good thing he is happy to share.

Still in the planning stages, but we need to get this:

So I've taken liberties with the Grumman2 profile and added ~2 feet and a dog door.



Trying to avoid the "large dirty feet across the bedding" problem. In lieu of a tongue box this seems a reasonable efficient solution. Tear will be 11' (w/queen bed). Still planning the storage options in the (rather large) front cabinet this allows.

I'm about to face this sort of the same problem this weekend.

I have Two big dogs and one tiny TD for 2 people.... guess I'll be sleeping in the Tent with the mutts. Oh, well they will have fun just being able to get out of the house and going some place different.

I have an area back under the rear hatch that is designed for a large cooler. I have been thinking of cutting a door between the sleeping area and the cooler space to create a dog crate. Has anyone done this? If so, how did it work?
