3rd Annual Beavers Bend ..... FFFOOOOOODDD !!!!!!!!!

Postby oklahomajewel » Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:48 pm

Okay.... let's see...

Looks like there will be about 33 "campers" so that means approx. 60 folks or more at this wonderful campout to officially open the South Central 2008 camping season!

Since we have the whole Buckeye Area B , we have the use of the large pavilion. This is where we'll have room for potluck, gathering, card games ... whatever.

I mentioned before about doing the RV Omelets for Sat. breakfast, but that's been cancelled. With this many people and the cost of the variety of items, etc.... among other things... Saturday breakfast is your own.

SATURDAY NIGHT POTLUCK :

So who might be bringing what?
A good variety of meats, salads, veggies, bread, and of course banana pudding ... er , uh... desserts!

I'll keep the list updated.

SATURDAY NIGHT POTLUCK LIST :
(subject to change)

Sonetpro = Deep Fried Turkey
DaveL = another Turkey
Todah = pork chops and chicken drum sticks
Spinnernut = pork tenderloin
CC Teardrop = smoked ham
Oklahoma jewel = deviled eggs
Darren (not on forum) = Baked beans?
Caseydog = Black bean casserole thingie
Starleen2 = Taco Salad
Bodyman = Cheesy Potatoes
GrinningGecko = Green salad , Garlic Bread
Ivar the Red = Macaroni Salad and a Cake
Planovet = potatoes or peas
Catoosa Grani = special mac & cheese
ReoRon = grilled veggies
Planovet = lemon bars
CC Teardrop = Banana Pudding
BillP = Pie(s)
ARKPAT = Plenty of plates and tea bags
Doug Hodder = appetite

Well Sherri just got back from the grocery store doing regular shopping and trip shopping (She can't wait to go)
Anyway I unloaded 4 gallons of peanut oil out of her truck, So it looks like we are doing another turkey.
I'm going to have hot oil in the pot when the turkey comes out. If anybody wants to use the oil while hot they are more than welcome to. chickens, fries, another turkey? Ya might even talk me into cooking it.

I'll bring a modest amount (will feed 4 or five people) of each:
a) pork chops
b) chicken drum sticks.

I can also bring my 50 cup coffee maker to heat water for those of us who have to drink decaf or want to use the hot water for oatmeal and such.

Beavers Bend dreamin' on such a beautiful day :M

I have 450 plates and tea bags for 150 plus cups of tea and a Coleman hot water heater to make hot or add ice tea. :thinking:

Are we needing any thing else. :oops:

I'll bring some packets of decaf coffee, some cocoa and some sweetner for the tea.

Well Steve I guess there will be enough Banana Pudding for everyone as Rocky isn't going to make it :cry: :cry: :cry:

We sure will miss him...........

Tonyj
Pack up and come to Beavers Bend and I guess you can have Rocky's share of banana pudding. I told him I would mail it to him but he didn't seem to think it would hold up in the mail.

I can do my black bean casserole-like thing. I need to come up with a name for it. :thinking:

(Black beans, corn, diced Rotel, a little sausage for flavor and a little cheese as a thickener)

Since my cooking repertoire extends only to using a can opener; I'll bring some pies from Costco. Unless, of course, someone really likes Spam; I have a dozen cans of that and lot's of Ramen noodles. Oh yeah, I also have a few bottles of Costco size Pepto-bismal.

We'll be bringing our usual D.O. sweet potatoes. Maybe in a couple years we'll advance to something different! We've got lots of foam cups and picnic silverware packets we'll be bringing (knife, fork, napkin, salt, pepper).

See everyone in a couple weeks,
