Wow! That's impressive! We're pretty much bug free here in San Diego. I think if I saw something like that in my garage I'd lock my family in the house and arm myself. I know it's just a moth, but jeez that's big!!! :shock:

Nope, completely different wings. The African has scalloped wings and the other is smooth. 8)

a Luna Moth, Actias luna. Found across eastern North America, the Luna Moth (left) is in the Saturniidae, the family that includes Giant Silkworm Moths; Luna Moth, Actias lunathese are large moths with wingspans of up to almost 6", but the 5" Luna Moth appears even larger because of long tails on its hindwings. My wife spoted it on my car tire, I thought it looked neat. The first name that came out of my mouth was luna, but I have not taken the have time to check on it. I on spring break and been tearing apart my frame and derustifing it. I was hoping to get it painted this week but it has been to cold in the mornings and is going to rain later this week. :(
