sprayer shower

Postby eamarquardt » Sat Mar 08, 2008 10:50 pm

To build on earlier ideas. Go to the store and get one of the sprayer heads usually found at your kitchen sink. Nice flow patter and a "dead man's valve". Took the RV type shower head off the shower in our boat and replaced it with one of these. Worked great. Great shower in 2 or three gallowns of water. I still like my pressure cooker water heater (see album) and the pressure cooker pot doubles as a "wash basin" that can be heated up on a burner to keep the water nice and hot while actually doing the dishes.

Cheers,

Gus

I see where y'all are coming from. I'm so lost on what I really want to do now. As I mentioned before, I want it all for nothing.....or so it seems.

I really like the size of the teardrop and even a tad bigger would work. I love the low profile and light weight for towing so if I could just figure out how to get a shower (and can) the wife would approve of (fair amount of HOT water and accompanied holding tanks), I would be happy!

Thanks, guys.

Unless you're doing extended camping in isolated locations , There are always plenty of opportunities for a shower, away from your TD/TTT... The actual trailer shower will probably see limited use, a small inconvenience usually tolerated by a loving and understanding mate for brief intervals ...

Has she ever tent camped with you before? Maybe you could stress how it is a step up from that.

Dee Bee,

Did you ever come up with a design that has it all? Galley, Bathroom AND Dinette?

In the Optima, what's the the space in the nose?

Mike...

Mike, The foot of the bunks taper to fit into the nose. The floor space between the bunks, could hold a Porta Pot. Privacy would be an issue.

No I haven't designed one that has it all. Among my own designs I think the Stand Up TD has the best possibility for a shower, / toilet. But I can't work out how to include a dinnette. Personlly, shower systems in a TD are over rated, complex, too much trouble, excess weight, etc.

I still would like to try my hand at my TD Cruiser as a three season TD:

Dee I like the Teardrop Cruser II. I have a base already made the same size. Sides walls already ( the larger standy I have started - I was not sure how to do the top - but now you have a solution ) in place and formed like what you have. I just need to make the top and inside like what you have drawn up on the frame.

Thanks Dee ! ;)

Lloyd Christmas and wife's shower

Postby CD1 » Mon Mar 24, 2008 9:29 pm

Lloyd Christmas, I hear you about the wife and the shower thing. I am brand spanking new to TD camping, and have a new one on order. Has sink with 7-8 gallon fresh, but no shower. Trust me, my wife is just like yours, and thus, I have cajoled her only into one Labor Day camping trip to Indiana at The Last Resort, and that is only for two nights. The shower/toilet thingy bothers her immensely.

I really hve no desire to lug around wicked heavy gray water--I will dump in a portable container, and don't desire it attached to my camper. And inside camper stand up showers, et cetera, will likely be fraught with problems: condensation, leaks, mold, and such.

I plan to use the campground shower, or take a handy dip in the swimming pool (I know, plenty of pee and other geeedis after an all day kiddie fest in the "cement pond", but at least it's chlorinated and takes the sweat off my skin). I think a pair of flip-flops, a bar of Ivory, and a hot and long campground shower is going to beat anything like a solar low flow bag.

Hell, in the hospital and other such places, sponge baths rule. A couple pots of camp stoved hot and toasty water and a clean sea sponge applied directly to the stinky body (Head On--apply directly to the forehead. Head On...) really can get a ton of water on the skin quickly. Another option, and plenty hot.

Anyhow, these are some of the ideas I have, and will try out this summer.

Getting Wife to sit in the middle of the teardrop, head out the open roof vent and smiling to passers-by while discretely pooping into a five gallon bucket of kitty litter in the center of our mattress...now we're getting to a real challenge. Cd1

Check out this website. This guy built a kitchen and a shower/potty room on a 4x4 trailer. You don't need the kitchen, but could build something similar on the front tonque. Another idea anyway...

As a kid, our family hired a lovely Dutch steel motor cruiser which had the toilet compartment right in the bows and when sitting on the head, your head poked out a few inches out of a deck hatch. What a gorgeous place to sit and watch wildlife! Such a nice way to spend a longer time than you intended.

I like the concept, but on a separate note, his design seems to have a high center-of-gravity for such a short wheelbase.

Seems to be working for this guy ! :lol:Image
